So curious for the CinemaScore. No idea what to expect.

Letterboxd is just IMDB with fewer users
Letterboxd is way more used than IMDB nowadays, at least for rating stuff

Do you consider Wonka or Venom 2 to be Blockbusters? Because that’s about the domestic total Dune II is on track to have
Personally, would reserve the “blockbuster” designation for the few $300M+ plus titles each year, and as of now, between preview tracking and expected IM and March legs, getting to that level would take a significant outlier result
How are two movies that grossed over half a billion not blockbusters?

A Cinemascore. First non-Batman Nolan movie to get this grade

God, that was one of the best theater experiences I ever had. 80% of the audience dressed in pink, people were laughing and cheered at the end. It truly is an event.

The anti-woke mob will fail with this one because most people see how ridiculous it is to get mad over a fucking Barbie movie. If The Little Mermaid got to half a billion even with all the hate campaign, Barbie will be fine.

Are they putting Lily in lead or supporting? I think Fantasia and Danielle will be tough to beat. But who knows, but Lily has a better shot at best actress because the Sophia character is a powerhouse!
Everyone who has seen the film says Gladstone is definitely Supporting

I agree except to say they may think twice about recognizing the men for all the big awards attention (Baumbach and Gosling) while more or less snubbing the women (Gerwig and Robbie). Might not be the best look for them…
They nominated the white guy in Blackkklansman and ignored the black lead, I don't think they care

Uh, "Little Woman" was not exactly original material...........
I didn't say it was? lol

I get being worried about Gerwig not doing original stuff, but also, it's not like Narnia is some cynical IP. It's probably the most respected book series of the 20th century after Lord of the Rings. Feels much closer to a Dune type of project if done right. I don't think it's fair to compare it to Disney remakes or superhero stuff.

Is there another source for this? The random guy with the Peaky Blinders pfp doesn't seem to be the most trustworthy. Weird that it would take this long for them to ban it if that was the case.

It will be interesting if studios do counter programming on this scale in future as people are already trying to make a Wonka/Napoleon double feature a meme now.
That meme makes zero sense. Those movies come out a month apart.
But yes, Hollywood will absolutely try to replicate this and embarrass themselves. Barbenheimer was organic, you can't force something like this.

Why would it be jawdropping? There’s a massive built-in audience.I mean, I don't think even the most optimistic person expected this movie to be as big as it is looking to be.

I really hope this is marketed well. We need a new original sci-fi win.

Doesn't come out here for a month but I hope it does well, even if it's not that great. Unlees I'm forgetting something, this, Bullet Train and Don't Worry Darling are probably the only original movies left this year that can make decent money.
-
Yeah, I have never walked out of a movie and never will, no matter how bad it is. I paid for something and made the trip, might as well make the most of it.

I just realized that this will most likely be on PVOD (which menas it will also be on 4k on piracy sites) the week it releases overseas
Not necessarily. Universal seems to be doing different release models for each film (The Black Phone was released on VOD after 3 weeks and JWD after 6). And I wouldn't be surprised if Peele demanded a bigger theatrical window in his contract.

there's nothing to "trust", you just disagree with them. and I personally really liked Us 🤷♀️

Comparing Will Smith to Austin Butler is a choice lmao.
Y'all really think Austin could win???? Like seriously???
I'm not comparing anything and no I don't. I'm just saying that box office doesn't matter either for the actor category.

Very different for actresses. There is a huge correlation between Best Actor winners and their films getting into Best Picture, and a movie like Elvis with a low 60s on MC would need to be a smash hit at the box office to get in.
Ok then, King Richard bombed at the box office and Will Smith still won. None of the Best Actors contenders will make much money unless they really nominate Cruise or people are hyped for Brendan Fraser comeback and the new Aronofsky performs like Black Swan.

rip Butler's Oscar chances
The Eyes of Tammy Faye did less than 3 million in its entire theatrical run and Jessica Chastain still won. Box office means nothing for Oscars (hell, we just had a streaming movie win Best Picture)

2022 has been very kind to Ethan Hawke.
And he still has Knives Out 2 coming out. Very good year for him.

B Cinemascore. Could have been worse, I guess.
