  1. Letterboxd is way more used than IMDB nowadays, at least for rating stuff
  2. How are two movies that grossed over half a billion not blockbusters?
  3. God, that was one of the best theater experiences I ever had. 80% of the audience dressed in pink, people were laughing and cheered at the end. It truly is an event.
  4. The anti-woke mob will fail with this one because most people see how ridiculous it is to get mad over a fucking Barbie movie. If The Little Mermaid got to half a billion even with all the hate campaign, Barbie will be fine.
  5. I get being worried about Gerwig not doing original stuff, but also, it's not like Narnia is some cynical IP. It's probably the most respected book series of the 20th century after Lord of the Rings. Feels much closer to a Dune type of project if done right. I don't think it's fair to compare it to Disney remakes or superhero stuff.
  6. Is there another source for this? The random guy with the Peaky Blinders pfp doesn't seem to be the most trustworthy. Weird that it would take this long for them to ban it if that was the case.
  7. That meme makes zero sense. Those movies come out a month apart. But yes, Hollywood will absolutely try to replicate this and embarrass themselves. Barbenheimer was organic, you can't force something like this.
  8. I really hope this is marketed well. We need a new original sci-fi win.
  9. Doesn't come out here for a month but I hope it does well, even if it's not that great. Unlees I'm forgetting something, this, Bullet Train and Don't Worry Darling are probably the only original movies left this year that can make decent money.
  10. Yeah, I have never walked out of a movie and never will, no matter how bad it is. I paid for something and made the trip, might as well make the most of it.
  11. Not necessarily. Universal seems to be doing different release models for each film (The Black Phone was released on VOD after 3 weeks and JWD after 6). And I wouldn't be surprised if Peele demanded a bigger theatrical window in his contract.
  12. there's nothing to "trust", you just disagree with them. and I personally really liked Us 🤷‍♀️
  13. I'm not comparing anything and no I don't. I'm just saying that box office doesn't matter either for the actor category.
  14. Ok then, King Richard bombed at the box office and Will Smith still won. None of the Best Actors contenders will make much money unless they really nominate Cruise or people are hyped for Brendan Fraser comeback and the new Aronofsky performs like Black Swan.
  15. The Eyes of Tammy Faye did less than 3 million in its entire theatrical run and Jessica Chastain still won. Box office means nothing for Oscars (hell, we just had a streaming movie win Best Picture)
