Curious how much it could make if they do a full blown re-release. It's the Nolan film with the most cult following and has gained more love since the initial release.

Deadline:
Oppenheimer has now become Christopher Nolan’s highest grossing film of all time internationally with $638.4M to date. The global total is now $968.3M.
Japan added $1.6M in its sophomore frame to total $5.5M to date. This is well above Interstellar, in line with Dunkirk and just off The Dark Knight Rises. It’s also ahead of Dune: Part 2 and double Dune at the same point in release.
Can we make it to a even 970

Or we could always hope Russia releases it one day...LOL...

Nolan's movies get random re-releases all the time in IMAX theatres anyways. Places in Asia like Hong Kong has like TDK trilogy marathon, Nolan marathon, LOTR marathon all the time.

Probably depends on where her career goes from here, and what offers she receives. We'll see if her limited series that was already in the can before Killers even premiered at Cannes goes anywhere next month, though it is on Hulu (who, combined with the FX brand of the Disney specialty TV side, seem to be behind the highest number of shows competing for recognition in the Limited categories this year so some of those are bound to fall through the cracks) and it's another true crime miniseries, which for the TV portion of social media have become what superhero movies and biopics are to the film section where the latest one tends to be greeted with a reaction of "ugh, I'm so tired" every time one is about to be released.
Speaking of which, RDJ's HBO series premieres next month (where he plays several characters). Should easily make him the frontrunner for Limited Supporting following his Oscar win in what's looking to be an especially barren field for the category.
The trailer for The Sympathizer looks really promising. I am looking forward to it already.

Any re-release internationally for 7-time Academy Award winner Oppenheimer?
Universal China posted that they are going to rerelease it but don't know how big of a scale it is, probably won't bring too much box office.

With that Best Picture Win for Oppenheimer, how much more money do you guys think will add to the $1B-mark? Since it needs to do around $40M or so to get there, and the film hasn’t opened in Japan yet. What is the minimum or maximum gross that Oppenheimer needs to do there? 🙆🏻♀️🤔
I honestly still thinking that 1B is only reachable in a future re-release, but I would be happy to be proved wrong.

Overall I thought it was a pretty decent ceremony. I didn't think it was too long either. There were times when I wanted a break because I was so nervous for Oppenheimer but the pacing is so fast lol

16 years as a Nolan fan. This is the moment I have been waiting for!!! It's a great year to be a Nolan fan!

LOL . He won for Inception. I don't understand why he did not go back to being A DP after his directing career bombed out
I think he's just enjoying retirement right now and occasionally making good money from a few commercials.

Keaton was acting as Batman the entire time in those reaction shots.
He looks a lot hotter than I remembered.

I hope he doesn't even bother to clap when Murphy wins just for the lolz.
The camera man definitely pans to him a lot when Cillian wins lol I only watch Oppenheimer award speeches and his reaction always shows up, way more than any of the other nominees.

This is dangerously innacurate shit. Even Gwyneth Paltrow and Asia Argento were preyed upon by the likes of Weinstein so it's not like nepotism is guaranteed safety against harassment. Both of Dakota's grandmother and mother were treated like garbage by the industry. She doesn't really need to put up a fake pretense of being "grateful" for being cast in uninspired duds like Madame Web. She has already made bank thanks to the 50 Shades franchise. Robert Pattinson broke out due to Twilight and that didn't stop him from dunking on the films while they were still coming out but he wasn't hated on for it.
Because Robert Pattinson is actually a good actor and chose good projects after Twilight.

Dakota comes across as a vapid churlish idiot and I hope her career tanks.
She sounds like an entitled brat. She only has her blunt and straightforward personality because she's a nepo baby and won't worry about risking her career when she says things like that. It's not like she's getting abused on set or anything. She chose this project because of the money lol

Don’t get me wrong, your second paragraph says exactly what I think. About this we don’t disagree (except for “It is never about campaign”, for most of categories it’s all about marketing campaigns, especially in the most technical categories, where you have to make private sessions with voters to explain the development/process etc). This is why I added. ”The best movie with the best award campaign”. Movies like Oppenheimer, Dune Part Two and Killer of the Flower Moon (the best one IMO) are cinematic achievements. You can’t describe any one of them as far better or clearly better than the other ones. You of course will always have your best one though. So when you achieve cinema highest level, what makes the difference is how good your your award campaign is. It’s way less romantic than people think, not all voters even watch all movies, (yeah you read it right) before the short lists come out there are thousands of movies from all around the world to be watched.About your first paragraph we disagree because there are some facts, which movie had the most Screening debates? Oppenheimer. Which movie had the most score live concerts? Oppenheimer. (In some case the second is not even Barbie but instead Maestro (this may sound weird ikr). Regarding Netflix, everyone knows the voters still have prejudice against Netflix movies, plus they don’t have the box office numbers to back their award campaigns.
By the way, what The Academy did with The Irish Man was just atrocious, prejudice was clearer than ever. And yeah they really did a really big award campaign, but prejudice speaks louder sometimes.
I mean it's not like Oppenheimer did way more campaigning than other movies. It's also making up for the release press tour which was cut short because of the SAG strike. Oppenheimer does get more publicity because of the big names and also because of the mainstream popularity. Bradley Cooper did a shit ton of interviews which kind of backfired. Paul Giamatti was everywhere, including that In & Out semi-viral moment. Scorsese and Lily did a lot of campaigning too. She's always in the news. Apple also have all the money and resources at their disposal. KOTFM just wasn't that popular of a movie.

I don’t know where the “there’s no negative discourse around Oppenheimer” came from, but if you go to some corners of tiktok it is the most evil movie ever put forth by Hollywood.
For a movie about the father of the atomic bomb that takes place during WWII, the negative discourse is pretty minimal. It managed to not offend most of the countries involved.

Must say it's been impressive that we've gone through an awards season where a Nolan joint is by far the frontrunner and there's been no notable backlash of any kind. Feels like it's been a minute since we've had that one movie that everyone declared the Awards Season Villain (typically reserved for the frontrunners). Although I guess Maestro was the closest we had to one this year but even that dissipated once it became apparent early on it wasn't winning anything major and BCoop will remain Oscarless (how much is he working overtime right now to secure the lead role in Nolan's next movie hoping #6 will be the charm after this wins two acting Oscars).
I mean, the academy doesn't love Nolan that much. Most of the Oscars his movies won were technical, like sound, cinematography, editing and VFX. The only acting win was Heath Ledger I think. As a fan since The Dark Knight, I have been waiting for his BP and BD win since forever. If you visit the nolanfans forum you would know that everyone's surprised at how dominant Oppenheimer is because we are all used to disappointment lol But anyways, not a big fan of Cooper's style aside from Rocket the Racoon. Please don't cast him Papa Nolan. He would have better luck with acting nomination/win in a Scorsese movie I think lol

On another note, if Brokeback Mountain was released in recently years, it wouldn't have been snubbed. Still bitter about it.

I saw Tenet in Korea at the peak of the pandemic lol weirdly I didn't have any of the audio issues that people complained out.

I'm as much a Stone stan as anyone and will be first to admit she definitely doesn't need another Oscar this soon. I'm not surprised she might be shaping up to be the Blanchett (the immediate alternative to Yeoh last year) of this season.
Between two Stones, Emma's my favourite but I agree, she really doesn't need another Oscar win.

God Nolan deserves all of this and more for
bringing Josh back into mainstream andmaking such an epic film. His next film should be another mega blockbuster. He said he's interested in horror movies. I am definitely looking forward to that, even though I can't really handle scary movies lol might be the first scary movie I am willing to go willingly and not cover my eyes.
