  2.

That's hilarious -- though a Video Centerfold video is about as softcore as it gets.

Wes Craven also worked in the porn industry early in his career. One year after Last House on the Left he did an X-rated porn film, working as Editor and Assistant Director. And actor wise, Stallone and Cameron Diaz both did pornography before hitting it big in Hollywood.

She comes across as such a prude. Michael Bay started out directing porn (not exactly shocking when you think about it), Channing Tatum was a stripper, the director of the live-action Inspector Gadget started his career directing porn. Porn is a good starting point for behind the scenes work because you can start with a higher profile job than you would if you worked on Hollywood films.

  4. When characters (mostly in horror movies) make really really stupid decisions, decisions that NO ONE would make in real life

Without that, you wouldn't have horror movies pretty much as they would get of the situation like they rightfully should and there would be no movie.

  5. I'm not sure the decisions were dumb.  They were thrown into a very volatile situation and it was established at the beginning that the son was very much against The Purge.  So his decision made sense.  The security system was horrible, I agree.  The neighbours wanting to kill them was easily seen.  They were all jealous and I knew once the cookies were given that they were coming after them.  I didn't think that was dumb at all.

Yeah, I liked the movie too. The son pissed me off though with some of the decisions he made.

  6. Texas Chainsaw $8mMama $15mDark Skies $3.5mLast Exorcism Part II $5mEvil Dead $17mThe Purge $3.5m.Amazing that none of the releases have budgets over $20m.And four out of the 6 opened at #1. :)

Even the lowest grossing film on that list turned a profit or will once DVD and other ancillary markets are taken into account. The Last Exorcism Part 2 and Dark Skies did 15M and 17M respectively theatrically yet their low cost means they will make money. IMDB used to have the budget for TCM 3D at 20M. 8M sounds way more reasonable, even with 3D.

With those kind of budgets, why is Hollywood at times seemingly afraid to make horror films? As long as the budget stays reasonable, they don't lose money.

  7. Ah I see thanks. I forgot he was in Sinister.  Good for him.  I always wondered why his career slowed down. He seems to be doing well with what he's doing.

I think he does these movies because not only do they not take very long to film (The Purge took only 20 days), they make him money so he can focus on his real passion, writing, directing, and doing small films like the Before Midnight. He at first was hesitant to do horror as it apparently took a lot of convincing to get him to agree to do Daybreakers. That film wasn't much of a hit either but he obviously liked the experience enough that he's doing Predestination with the same directors.
