  1. Didn't all the other big OW's have Thursday midnight shows too?

IM3 beat #3 by a big enough margin that its safe to assume that if it was limited to strictly midnight showings, it still would have pulled in enough to take second place. It's not like it made $30 million from 7pm shows or anything like that.

Well, Thursday midnight shows are technically on Friday. :P

And didn't it only beat Harry Potter's OW by like 5 million? Iron Man 3 made over 15 million from Thursday evening shows which started at 9 (although I know my theater, for example, didn't even follow that rule and actually started shows at 8). They were able to get a whole lot of shows in at various times before midnight. I don't think it's fair that studios are folding in what's basically an extra half day into the Friday estimates.

  2. I think TBL definitely has TDKR's number. They must feel very good about the move to that weekend. Now they'll get that headline about finally taking down Batman.I have a feeling The Campaign isn't going to do anything though. Maybe if regular people were actually interested in the presidential election this year, it'd have a shot, but this election seems to be producing the least passion/enthusiasm since 2000 pre-recount or perhaps even since the 1996 Clinton-Dole snoozefest. And I don't think people will buy tickets just because of Ferrell and Galifianakis are in it. If that were the case, Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie would have at least made a few bucks. :P

  3. That film is really powerful with me for some reason. I love what he is trying to achieve there and it's a film that the end truly "sucker punched" me. I just think that with time, the film will get a cult following, just like I see it happening with Watchmen and I hope it will happen with Scott Pilgrim as well.

It really doesn't do anything for me. Scott Pilgrim was excellent though!
  4. Of course, my bias is telling me this. THG deserves to keep its post since it's a better film. If this was Brett Ratner's The Dark Knight Rises people would be trashing this film hard. Nolan failed. And why do we fall, sir? Nolan and Batman deserve better luck next time. And I bet they will have.

Perhaps but it's nothing like a Ratner film. At all. I'm not sure how one could write it off as Ratneresque, even if they don't like it.
