I am pretty sure I said in June this would do 1.1B DOM and 300M OW. Does that count?

It seriously won't surprise me if it drops to a 40M weekend on January 8 (if it does 100M 2nd weekend, if it does more I will adjust my prediction). It will have a super hold on MLK weekend and die after that.

    That does.

I wonder what is George Lucas thinking right now seeing this insane numbers for Episode 7.  Quality aside, watching this episode 7 numbers; Episodes 2 and 3 were really a big box office disappointment.

He's probably thinking he got ripped off. That $4 billion he got for Star Wars (and Indy) doesn't seem that great anymore.

That's just insane. Before this the record to $300m was 8-days (Jurassic World), in its 8th day TFA is hitting $400m.

Monday - $40 million - Whoooooo Move over avatar

    Tuesday - $40 million - Whooooo $1 Billion locked!

Wednesday - $40 million - Whooooo It's going to beat Avatar WW

Thursday - $40 million - Whooooo This is going to beat GWTW adjusted!!!

Friday - $40 million - Skyfall. This is doomed. Terrible legs. Blah

That would be cool. I was thinking something more cruel though. Like we will never know Tuesday's gross because we are always stuck living this day over and over again.

People on the internet getting super mad about a black actress being cast as Hermione in a play they'll never watch is so very, very, very internet

Don't even have to include the "in a play" part and you'd be completely right. It's pretty gross behavior.

I wonder if the situation were reversed what people would think? If Hermoine were black in the movies, and a white actress were cast to play Hermione for this play.

no one said the franchise is sexist. in fact i said the very opposite, that TFA is obviously very strong with female characters. i said that nerdy fandoms in general are sexist. which you're proving by saying that most female fans are "casual" or "new". nope. they're just as hardcore and have been around for just as long, but when they're told from a young age "it's for boys" less of them will end up staying around.

like i said before, hopefully when we get the stats for the whole OW the split is closer to 50/50.

I don't remember people complaining about sexism when Titanic was breaking records.
