  1. Thank so for this. Sorely need regular box office updates for HK. i have no idea how some locals movies did. Do u have numbers for 'Special Female Force' 'A Chinese Odyessy 3' and 'Fooling Around Jiang Hu'?
  2. Granted I'm not looking at deeply into it, I'm just saying reason why 'Gods of Egypt' did ok in HK compared to everywhere else is because of lack of competition and it may not be a coincidence that Zootopia is number 1 in territories where 'Gods' is doing badly. 3. I'm sure it's just lack of competition. If Zootopia was out in HK I'm pretty certain it would be number one this week too Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Batman vs Superman IMAX tickets are 230 hkd!!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Disney have a global rollout for Star Wars, Pegasus does not have that kind of setup. Disney also control their own home entertainment releases, they haven't sold it to a third party to release. Each company is looking to exploit its own interests so why would a HK video company care if China hasn't released the film yet? In fact it would be in its own interest as it increases demand in their own product. In the end of the day, they dropped the ball in the delayed China release and everyone else is just doing what the industry standard is. The window between theatrical HK movies and DVD is short because why leave a gap in the middle when it's not available? That just gives pirates an opportunity. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I have a feeling that they don't have control over the DVD release schedule in Hong Kong as it has already been agreed with the distributor. As the film came out back in Dec 24, a 2-3 month window seems like the regular time for the DVD to be released. Usually it HK, a film gets a home entertainment release pretty quickly after the run has finished in the cinema and I'm assuming it will be done by Thursday. It's China's own fault it delayed its released so late. It crazy that the film has been released in the UK and the US before China. They dropped the ball for their China release and you can expect the home video distributors to hang around until China gets its act together since the DVD distributor gets no advantage from holding it back because of another territories release date. 7. That's just personal opinion. IM3 was pretty well received. Much better than IM2. TASM2 was so well received though.
  8. Hi guys, I love to keep update with hk box office but all the talk of new records being broken are always going to happen with inflation. So if we look at admissions, surely that would be much harder to break because generally, more people watched films in the cinema 30 years ago. For instance, the private eyes is estimated to have had 1.7 million admissions and Aces Go Places would be estimated at over 2 million admissions. At today's ticket prices, I think you would agree that these movies would be hard to beat.
  9. True, there's no accounting for taste in hk but I just have a feeling spidey won't do as well as the avengersThough I maybe eating my words come July
  10. I don't think spidey will do as well as the avengersThe level of excitement and antipication just isn't thereIt will all of course depend of the quality of the movie in the end but there just isn't that fever level buildup that the avengers had
  11. Is it usual that most of the main screens will have it in 3d and 2d is hard to find?I recall trying to watch captain America in 2d but couldn't find any screens for it, especially on hk side.
  12. If I can find out the average ticket price in each year , eg 1976 or 1986 then we can get a rough estimate of the inflation adjusted grosses
  13. Is there a list of hk box office that is inflation adjusted?Would love to know what the top ten grosses would be in real terms?Would it be 'a better tomorrow', 'the private eyes' and how would the Stephen chow movies compare historically?
