  1. I also didn't really think it was a big twist. A twist is Willis is dead in Sixth Sense. That's a twist. The fact that no one is on Saturn is a plot piece, imo, not a twist.

It's a GIANT twist (that we lost the war). Unfortunately they spoiled it in the trailers, I stll can't forgive them that.

  2. OK, was just messing around. :)

Seriously though, can you pinpoint the places where the pacing went off? Cause I saw the movie one whole time (out of 8) specifically to follow the pacing and scene transitions - and I found it incredible, considering the subject matter.

I honestly can't see a single dull moment.

  3. Thank you.

I'm actually probably the first cinema emigrant in the history of the world. I left my old country behind and moved west so that I could be seeing as many cinema movies as possible.

    Living the dream. B)

And as for The Hobbit, I could have seen it much more, but I missed its first FOUR weeks showing while travelling*, so I didn't have enough time. I expect to see Smaug FIFTEEN times though, that's why my list in the previous goes up to 15. *smirk*

    * There's only two things I like as much as or more than cinema:

    1. Debauchery with fine females.

    2. Travelling around the world (love Asia) with the intent of seeing it all.

  4. Here's what I've seen on the big screen more than once in the 3 short months since I moved:

    15:14:13:12:11:10:

9: The Hobbit 1,8: The Croods, Oblivion,7: Oz the Great and Powerful,6: Django Unchained, Wreck-it Ralph, Clоud Atlas,5: The Life of Pi, Hansel and Gretel, Finding Nemo,4: Moulin Rouge!, Jack the Giant Slayer, G.I. Joe 2,3: Les Miserables, Monsters Inc., Trance, Spring Breakers,2: Seven Psychopaths, Rise of the Guardians, Gangster Squad, Movie 43, Mama, Argo, Side Effects, The Host,

Some didn't quite deserve it, but whatever... Most were awesome.

  5. Do you work? Do you sleep? Do you have a social presence in your community? Do you watch anything else in or out of the theaters besides a few certain movies? Did you catch anything in the sixth viewing that you missed in the fifth?

Sorry, Sash, I just have a lot of questions.

    1. Do you work?

    No. :) Hopefully I won't have to.

    2. Do you sleep?

Not quite, but I have to.

    3. Do you have a social presence in your community?

No, I just moved to a new country. But even in my old country I mainly fornicated, not many more social activities I feel like investing into.

    4. Do you watch anything else in or out of the theaters besides a few certain movies?

I watch absolutely EVERYTHING in my 17 screen multiplex. That accounts for roughly SIX NEW MOVIES each week. And the good ones I see much more than once, so 2 movies a day on average. :)

    5. Did you catch anything in the sixth viewing that you missed in the fifth?

Actually, yes. With good and meaningful movies like Oblivion, there are details to catch long after the first seeing.

  6. I refuse to go into this. Instead, back to the movie:

Oblivion is well above the average level of modern cinema. In its genre (hardcore sci-fi) it's actually one of the best ever.On top of that it has really great visuals and music. So that's enough for me to be seeing it many times in a row. I see many movies many times only because of the visuals. But Oblivion also has very nice attention to detail and some really powerful scenes. So that I found new things to enjoy with each viewing.Examples:The scene with Vicca 52The parting scene with Julia, before she goes asleepThe answer Jack gives to Sally when it catches him lying("I want Julia to live... This is the only way" - that was a great line, because it's the asbolute truth - but we don't get to know it till much later)

  7. Apparently besides Olga... Jessica Chastain, Olivia Wilde, Brit Marling(who?), and Noomi Rapace were all considered for the role.  The part was originally given to Chastain, but due to scheduling conflicts with Zero Dark Thirty, she dropped out and the role was offered to Olga Kurylenko.

Chastain is the best new actress now, but considering she's 10 times less beautiful than Olga and 5 times less beautiful than Andrea, it would be highly unbelievable for Cruise to do what he did for her.

So yeah, I'm not sure which is better here: talent or beauty. And we can't have both, sadly.

  8. One minor thing that did bug me was the Odyssey mission being set in 2017. Couldn't they have had the common sense to make it 2027 or 2037? NASA isn't going to launch a ship like that within 4 years.

Considering NASA never launched anything more than orbital shuttles, I'd say the setting should be AT LEAST 2200 AD to be any bit believable.

  9. I can't see a thread for the 3D re-release of JP, so I'll say it here:

I really hope that this will be a good OW which wll lead to a BIG dom+OS gross.

Why, because turns out they cancelled ALL other planned 3D re-releases (Mermaid, ID and all of the Wars, and who knows what others) - and I really, REALLY want to be seeing old classics in cinema, so we need a new 3D re-release HIT which to turn the tides again, like the Lion King.

    What say you?
