Saw this just now, a 9/10 for me.

It's depressing and disheartening that LIFE will be yet another brilliant film that has toxic word of mouth and thus tanks at the box office after the OW simply because...

General audiences really, really need to expand their horizons. Film is an art form, not just cheap entertainment meant to make them feel happy.

    AHAHAHA..

Dude listen to what you guys are actually arguing. I guess rooting against rival sports teams or political candidates because some lower level employees may lose jobs in their failures is a terrible thing?

People are rooting against movies in every single movie thread.. but now it suddenly matters cause people might get fired? lol

i understand the mods/admins, they prob have full inboxes with ppl bitching and complaining.. but this is ridiculous..

Just as an aside (from reading the last couple of pages before the lock), everyone who publicly wants Snyder fired and the JL project delayed -- there's human collateral damage if your wishes come true. A few hundred people -- all the below-the-line crew -- will be out of work and scrambling to find ways to cover rent/mortgage payments/cost of living. When a project gets delayed close to its start date, it's very difficult to find a replacement job quickly, especially any sort of long-term work. All these crew members had financial security for awhile, their lives at least somewhat planned out for the near future. Often-times, with a high-profile feature like this, once you're booked, you turn down other work because projects like this are better. So the jobs you might've had are also gone (in most cases) because you were already booked on JL.

Why does this suddenly matter now? and not for all the other movies..

I guess maybe? But does it really matter that much? They're making a ton of money off this version, and once they stop making a ton of money with the Snyder-verse, they'll step back for a beat or twice, find another dude (or dudette) to run their universe, and they'll do it all all over again. I don't really buy that audiences will reject a DCEU movie with multiple heroes simply because this version didn't work (for them).

Like most everything, future reboots will come down to execution. And even a lousy or semi-lousy reboot will still be profitable unless WB doesn't control costs at all.

i dont want a possible good reboot in the future.. i want good DCEU films like

So you are admitting that DC has more firepower? DC need no fillers when you have the big guys. Batman will be bigger than JLA anyway. Aqua man will do what Thor and CA did or thereabouts, but fact is that Marvel has no big guns apart from IM and that is about to fade anyway. Spidey can rebound, but not sure if it will be a straight forward 300m film because it's Marvel.

i really start to wonder if people are serious posting this or just messing around now..

Lol why though? There was no doubting the open would be stronger OS & the US total most predicted $150-$200m? Doesn't seem unreasonable at all.

because they have to act like these numbers, that are great numbers, no doubt about it..  are something special.. the fact that the title of the movie was batman vs superman guaranteed these numbers

What does Deadpool have to do with anything? I'd like to note that Superman's reputation in films had been declining for a while (when was the last Superman movie people actually thought was good? It was Superman II with Christopher Reeves. That was back in 1980. 36 years ago. Every movie since then has been bad or mixed including Man of Steel.) As for Batman, yeah he's solid.

A property most ppl including myself didnt know existed execpt for CMB fans had a OW of 130M even with a R rating.. Showing us that these big opening numbers arent that special anymore..  Superman reputation doesnt matter.. were talking about a iconic symbol here.. no movie in 30years or 1/2 bad movies doesnt change that.. He is still known and relevant to the GA..

It's opened higher than any Batman or Superman movie.

TDKR, 2d and a shooting that prob affected the OW with millions of dollars openend with 160M in 2012.. and a for the first time ever a batman vs superman movie in 3d in 2016 does only 10m more?! not really a big succes in my book..

Also, if a movie is going to open to at least $150 million regardless of quality and it opens to $170 million then that's a win in any book.

avengers did 200m JW did 200M.. iam pretty sure WB was going for a event movie and atleast aiming for something close to 200M

    $170 million OW?

Zach Snyder just got himself a pay raise.

really? just because the title had batman v superman this would open to atleast 150M regardless of the quality of the movie.. (a R rated deadpool did 130M)

this is batman vs superman were talking about.. a great movie with an epic marketing campaign and this would have openend with 200M
