    Sorry for the double post!

     

    Congrats to the Oscar nomination for THIS IS ME.

    It was a good strategy to submit just one song to prevent potential vote splitting that could result to getting snubbed but a lot of the songs here are so worthy of a nomination. 

    I would love to see Hugh Jackman and the cast perform on stage with THE GREATEST SHOW had it been in contention, that song is such an earworm and showstopper

    It took awhile than I hoped but glad Coco finally reached 200M! Of course I was hoping higher but I'm happy it didn't become like Good Dinosaur

     

    Also glad Pitch Perfect 3 crossed 100M as well. The response is kinda muted but the box office run of the first movie (word of mouth hit) was so good so I wanted the franchise to end on a good note box office wise

     

    Enjoying the box office legs of Jumanji and The Greatest Showman!

     

    Den of Thieves surprised me. Could 50 Cent have drawing power? His cable show is a ratings hit

     

    Decent for Forever My Girl. Should stick around until Valentines week

    “PITCH PERFECT 3” SCORES ALL-TIME BIGGEST OPENING WEEKEND FOR MUSICAL-COMEDY

    MANILA, Jan. 16, 2018 – They saved the biggest for last! Universal Pictures' Pitch Perfect 3 sang its way straight to the Philippine box-office to the tune of P101-M – the industry's highest opening weekend ever for a musical-comedy.

     

    That figure also represents the sixth biggest opening weekend ever for a Universal Pictures title, ahead of 2015's Fast and Furious 7 (at P97.9-M); and the all-time biggest January opening for Universal, surpassing last year's P65-M debut of The Great Wall.

     

    In the US, the Bella's farewell run has grossed a resounding $94.7-M and $67.7-M internationally with numerous markets yet to open.

     

    "With this series, we feel like we tapped into something-this flood of female empowerment, not just in Hollywood and in our industry, and in movies, but in the world," says producer Elizabeth Banks who also directed the second installment. “If that power comes with entertainment for the audience, so much more the better. Plus, singing and dancing and making people laugh is never a bad combination."

    MANILA, Jan. 15, 2018 – The Filipino audience embraced the thrills and comedic antics of Columbia Pictures' Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, hurling the comedy adventure to the No.1 spot of the box-office with a 7-day opening weekend of a roaring P115,275,439.


    The Dwayne Johnson blockbuster now holds the record for the sixth biggest opening for a Columbia Pictures title, bested only by, in descending order, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man 3, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man 2, The Amazing Spider-Man.


    Welcomed by local critics with superlative reviews, Jumanji signals a great year-starter for Columbia which still has potential hits Insidious: The Last Key, Venom, The Girl in the Spider's Web, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse for the rest of the year.


    Internationally, Jumanji has crossed the $300 million mark and has totaled over $262-M in the US after only 24 days of release. The film has a 75% certified fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, echoing the moviegoers' warm response to the actioner.


    In the Philippines, Welcome to the Jungle opened in 243 screens, with SM Mall of Asia (P4.19-M), SM North EDSA (P3.61-M) and SM Megamall (P3.14-M) getting the proverbial lion's share of sales.


    Close to their heels are Trinoma (P2.5-M), SM Cebu (P2.31-M), SM Clark (P2-M), Glorietta 4 (P1.93-M), SM Baguio (P1.61-M), Powerplant (P1.5-M) and Greenhills Promenade (P1.47-M).


    Also high in the rankings are Gaisano Davao (P1.41-M, SM Seaside (P1.38-M), SM San Lazaro (P1.28-M), SM Fairview (P1.26-M), Alabang Town Center (P1.22-M), SM Dasmarinas (P1.19-M), Bonifacio High Street (P1.18-M), Robinsons Ermita (P1.145-M), Greenbelt 3 (P1.142-M), and Robinsons Magnolia (P1.13-M).


    Closing out the Top 30 theaters are SM Southmall (P1.11-M), SM Aura (P1.1-M), Fisher Mall (P1.08-M), Gateway Cineplex (P1.07-M), Uptown Place (P1.03-M), Market!Market! (P1.011-M), Harbor Point (P1.01-M), SM Lanang (P994,644), Shang Cineplex (P985,763) and Eastwood (P956,149).


    In the brand-new adventure Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, the tables are turned as four unlikely friends are sucked into the world of Jumanji. When they discover an old video game console with a game they’ve never heard of, they decide to play and are immediately thrust into the game’s jungle setting, in the bodies of their avatars, played by Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan.     The box office run of Jumanji and The Greatest Showman have been so fun to track. Star Wars still did great of course but that was expected so not as exciting to track unless it was pacing ahead of The Force Awakens.

     

    Considering the tepid reaction to Pitch Perfect 3 (the soundtrack is not selling/streaming well) I think it was indeed a good move for Universal to screen it on December, it benefited from holidays so at least it's still going to gross in the 100M zone

    “STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI” OPENS AT NO.1, GROSSES P145.2-M IN 5 DAYS

     

    MANILA, Dec. 19, 2017 – The Philippines is one with The Force as Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi grossed a staggering P145.2-M in its first five days of release, opening at No.1 for the Dec. 13-17 frame.

     

    Receiving some of the most glowing reviews in years, the Rian Johnson-directed tentpole was lauded by local critics and fans alike, with some even saying its the best Star Wars movie yet.

     

    The biggest box-office grosses were reported by SM Megamall (P7.1-M), SM Mall of Asia (P6.5-M) and SM North EDSA (P5.6-M).

     

    Trinoma leads the rest of the Top 10 with P4.9-M, followed by Greenbelt 3 (P4.5-M), Glorietta 4 (P4.3-M), Power Plant (P4.1-M), Bonifacio High Street (P3.59-M), Greenhills Promenade (P3.55-M) and SM Aura (P3.3-M).

     

    The Force is also strong with the Top 20 cinemas, led by Alabang Town Center (P3.2-M), Shang Cineplex (P3.1-M), U.P. Town Center (P3-M), SM Cebu (P2.6-M), Uptown Place (P2.5-M), SM Southmall (P2.3-M), Ayala Mall Cebu (P2.26-M), The 30th Mall (P2.24-M), Robinsons Magnolia (P2.1-M) and Robinsons Galleria (P2-M).

     

    In the US, Star Wars: The Last Jedi opened with a stellar $220 million weekend — the second-highest opening weekend of all time.

     

    With international grosses hitting $230 million, Star Wars: The Last Jedi totaled $450 million worldwide.

     

    In Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the Skywalker saga continues as the heroes of The Force Awakens join the galactic legends in an epic adventure that unlocks age-old mysteries of the Force and shocking revelations of the past.

     

    The film stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, Kelly Marie Tran, Laura Dern and Benicio Del Toro.

     

    Star Wars: The Last Jedi is written and directed by Rian Johnson and produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Ram Bergman. J.J. Abrams, Tom Karnowski and Jason McGatlin are the executive producers.

     

    Now playing in Philippine cinemas, Star Wars: The Last Jedi is distributed by the Walt Disney Company (Philippines).

    The Frozen short is really designed to have commercial breaks, you can feel it. 

     

    And I liked it because I'm a sucker for Christmas specials but I get why there's some  backlash against it

     

    I do understand why Disney decided to have it though but now that Coco has proven its strength, they could remove it so the movie can end earlier and maybe have more showtimes

    I've been scanning twitter reactions to the movie and mostly "I cried" tweets  and also a lot people seeing their own grandparents through Mama Coco. The character design for Mama Coco really exudes a real life grandparent. There's warmth that transcends.

     

    Just even listening to the Remember Me duet of Miguel and Mam Coco on Spotify already makes me teary eyed, their voices just hits it hard
