  1. The Godfather is boring. Brando's performance is one-note.

Return of the King is also boring, probably due to the fact that it's overlong and overwrought.

    Casino is better than Goodfellas.

Titanic is hackneyed, ham-fisted film-making with pretty visuals.

Avatar is hackneyed, ham-fisted film-making with pretty visuals.

Inception is overrated. It's also pretentious, pseudo-clever, and contains a mishmash of themes and plot devices that have been done better in other movies.

  2. And at least 5 times by every girl born between 1982 and 1985. ;)

"Kate was so rude, she never once acknowledged any of us, I was devastated," hopeful fan Shanna Swan told Star. "She gave dirty looks to people in my town who waited hours to see her. Upon her arrival everyone was yelling ‘Kate we love you!’ and you could hear everyone gasping with excitement when her black Cadillac pulled up. I could feel and hear the excitement of everyone around me saying ‘OMG is that Kate? When is she coming?’ and there were lots of excited senior citizens. I witnessed several seniors asking the production staff if Kate would come and talk to fans and there were roughly 100 people waiting for her. She always plays such warm people on the big screen, I thought she would be kind, so when she was mean, I was crushed. I watched The Titanic 13 times when I was 12 years old, and Kate wouldn’t even look up for a second to acknowledge we were all adoring her.”

  3. Stick - Burt Reynolds' original cut of the film was apparently much closer to the spirit of the Elmore Leonard novel, but Universal felt it was not commercially viable and ordered substantial reshoots. Leonard disowned the final product.13th Warrior - John McTiernan's original cut fared poorly in test screenings, so he got the boot and Michael Crichton took over directorial duties. Even still, the finished film sat on a Touchstone shelf for quite some time before being released.Hard Target - The first version John Woo submitted was ridiculously violent and over the top (well, duh!), and received an NC-17 rating from the MPAA. He had to re-edit the film seven times before it received an R.More later...

  5. So we can judge the films WOM based on your theater, but the people in my theater just must have been full of shit then, right? Seems legit. And yes, people do tweet about this stuff. People tweet about everything they do. You are highly wrong about that.

(Yay, more speaking in absolutes. Anyway...)

Quite the opposite. The point I'm getting at: one theater's reaction does not a trend make.

As for twitter, SOME people in a certain AGE GROUP tweet about everything they do. MANY people in another AGE GROUP don't tweet at all. Point the second.

You picking up what I'm putting down?

  6. It's not just based on my opinion. I'm noticing many people disliking it more than liking it. It's becoming a trend. Twitter, here on the forums, the people at the theater. I don't base my predictions based on my opinions so piss off.

O RLY? People seemed pretty enthusiastic at my showing. I went with a large group and the consensus was overwhelmingly positive. Also, has it occurred to you that the audience most likely to patronize and appreciate this film is the audience least likely to tweet about it? Methinks not.
  7. General audiences are not going to like this. It's just not a good movie.

Trying to pass off your opinions as statements of fact. Good call.As for the early numbers, impressive for both films. Until this weekend, there hadn't been any offerings specifically for adults or small children. Apparently, there was demand for such entertainment from both demos.
