You can have an opinion about anything you want. But it gets ridiculous when you're trying to tell everyone that a movie didn't deserve its gross. The movie gross is determined by how many people wanted to see the movie in the theater. A movie deserves the money that it makes because people decided that they wanted to see that movie. The box office isn't your personal academy awards. You don't control how other people spend their money. The box office merely reflects the choices that people made. If TA is number 3 over THG or DH2, that's because more people chose TA than those 2 movies. You can adjust for inflation to try to keep the currency equal. But beyond that, if more people chose TA then you have to accept it.What? I can't have an opinion about how much I think a film deserves to gross?

That makes no sense. You've jumped the shark.I've supported it and enjoyed it the same why I enjoyed AIW's BO run, I just don't think AIW deserved 1B WW the same way I don't think TA deserves 3rd spot on the WW chart.
-
Nope, it shouldn't. It lost to the better movie. It lost to the more popular movie. More people liked TA than DH2.Well DH2 should still have the 3rd spot on the WW chart. I'm sure if THG or TH had beaten Potter this thread would have never happened.

All law schools are hard. The crappy ones are the hardest because they try to fail out the bottom 10% of the class.Best numbers of the day - my bro who is in a ridiculously hard law school went from a 1.8 GPA (horrible beginning for him and he is super-smart ironically) to a 2.74GPA. Stunning improvement! I felt the box office crowd would appreciate these numbers.

I would argue the same about Potter. However, I'm not really a Potter fan and didn't love the movies, so it's not as important to me. With TASM, it's a re-interpretation of the character, who was the way you described before this reboot.Perhaps, but then one could argue the same thing for Potter - how he was "destined" to be the one based on the prediction. Still, my point stands - both characters are "everyday kids" that weren't very special until "destiny" changed their respective paths.
-
Not according to TASM. According to TASM, it was Parker's destiny to become Spider-Man (unless the previews are misleading me). However, that's also what made Potter so relatable - he was just an every day kid. Just as Spider-man was an every day kid until he was bitten.

I just saw them and edited my post. Thank you though. But just so everyone knows, I'm not addicted or anything. I can stop anytime I want to.They're here. Go a couple posts back and you'll get your fix.

Finally, some TA numbers. That's what I needed.

And because they liked and remember TA.People went out and saw Transformers 3, doesn't mean they remember anything about Transformers 2. People will see TA2 because it is better than half the garbage out there.
-
The key difference though is that the Avengers will be getting a sequel. And with sequels, people remember the originals. How many sequels have you seen where you didn't remember the original? For me personaly, I always remember the original (except for Blade II, but that's the only time). That's like saying all the movies leading up to Avengers were memorable, because people went to see Avengers. Not necessarily true.
-
Nope, you'll be wrong. Because in 2015, when TA 2 comes out, people will go to see it. The franchise is just beginning.Doubt it, will be forgotten quite quickly, obviously not amongst this BO because of it's amazing run but with the general public it will be a distant memory.
-
Agreed. Especially since the Oscars get it wrong way too often. If you look back at the Oscars, it's the unmemorable movies that end up winning. The big hits that we all talk about almost never win.A film doesn't need to win oscars (or film awards in general) to be marked as memorable.
-
No, you said Potter has a whole theme park dedicated to it. I said if you mean Islands of Adventure, that isn't true.If you had been paying attention, you would have seen that my response was to RTX who stated that both TA and HP were forgettable. I responded that TA was memorable, and the proof was that Disney will now profit from all of the memories. My response had nothing to do with HP.And it is all about the profits. However, if the movie wasn't a huge hit, there would be no profits. TA will be remembered for a long long time.I didn't say Marvel didn't have one but you made it sound like they were building a theme park shrine to honor the Avengers, 'to keep the memories' lmao it's all about the cash.
-
This is not true. Potter has a section of Islands of Adventure. The same Island of Adventure that has a Marvel Island.Edit: A Marvel Island that is ruining the ability to get Marvel rides in Walt Disney World.Potter has a whole theme park. Soon to be in multiple countries.

TA didn't have a chance to win an Oscar yet, since it was just released this year. TA is very memorable. It's so memorable that Disney is thinking of ways to put TA related rides in their theme parks to make the memories last.Potter movies and Marvel SH movies are very similar in quality, I have to say. None of them won any Oscars. They aren't memorable either.

A great movie will last with us forever. The Avengers is a great movie. You shall be hearing about it... *cue creepy music*.... Forever!Did I bring Avengers up? I simply said that people need to move on from that bland film. Move the FUCK on.

According to Wikipedia, it was Omen III: The Final Conflict.

Disney bought Marvel, so they deserve all the glory. Same as with Pixar. It's one thing if Disney was just the distributor, but they're not; they're the owner. Therefore, they get all the glory that goes with being the owner. They are really great at developing one billion dollar movies. TA should be credited to Marvel though.
