It's like watching a black man playing Lincoln instead of Daniel Lewis.

Wonder if the humans face army of aliens if they killed large amount of engineers which is not easy to do when they are huge and strong. In the lore they can match against Predators and aliens like one on one.

Looking at behind the scene videos released today, looks like combination of original ghost in the shell movie, arise, innocence and stand alone series.

Motoko Kusanagi the Ghost in the Shell. I based her mostly on the 1995 anime. I went through a few versions of this, trying a more asian look as well. Though I felt it strayed further away from the idea that is Motoko. Maybe I’ll get time to come back to her, the purple hair and red eyes is an older version. Hope you like it.

1. I though the visuals were superb throughout. You can see where the money was spent. For me it truly felt like they recreated the look and feel of the original. I do think they overdid it with the giant people-holograms on the buildings though. It became a bit comical when you had two characters having a serious discussion only to have a 50 foot jogger in the background. Also, a bit too much unnecessary slomo at times. For the most part cinematography is pretty ace with a lot of imagery pulled straight from the original.
2. The thing about those three scenes is that they all feature Scarlett in a skin-tight bodysuit. So of course the rest of the movie isn't as good... Except dat ending.
3. The music just sort of faded into the background for me during most of the film, I'm afraid.
Don't be surprised about holograms and being giant around buildings. We already have giant banners and tv screens advertising like that. Just not hologram.

Technically it's just the creation of the body (which has been mass produced). Not Major. I'm still right. I still win.
You're right. Since it's a cyborg body she is not actually naked!???

Edit: I guess you mean the creation scene(mixed with the credits).... ok then.
Yeah glad you figure that out and contradicts not naked in anime. It's okay.

Not in the beginning, at the end sure; we literally see her thermoptic suit rip apart just before the rest of her tears apart. It isn't see through, just flesh toned.
Watch the beginnging again and decide whats naked.

She isn't naked in the anime.
Only in the beginning and ending she is naked. Course a see thru suit counts as naked technically.

Visuals are good though I can't comment much beyond on that so far. Much better then the awkwardly done knock-off water fight. Still not huge on them making the geishas look robotic when they're meant to be attractive sex-androids more or less.
Don't think they are sex androids in this scene. Just servers and dancers.

Not the first 5 mins but the 5 mins after that. Fuckers also cut Beat Takeshi.
Yeah not sure why they cut him out in this scene. Unless it shows something in the actual movie.

There's nothing wrong with what she's doing, it's just that the fight isn't staged in a very interesting way.
Its pretty much almost exactly like the anime version. She doesn't play fair. Just beats the crap out of him while invisible as you saw in the clip. Course there is more before that scene.

Could be the best surprise movie of the year.

I was being ironic so let me break down the posts for you guys (Hey jonny!)
Klingo comes and posts some female bodybuilders saying " If people want athletic women they look like this.". Her point is that athletic females look gross and Scarjo is a better choice, what she doesn't seem to get is that those are female bodybuilders AND they look better than Scarjo. I come in smugly and ironically post the male equivalent of those bodybuilding women, to show that bodying building =/= athletic.
This is concludes todays breakin it down with Jimbo
I'm a guy. But I wanted to point out those pics I posted are Crossfit women and are not bodybuilders but athletes because they train their bodies for competitions like running, swimming, climbing, etc. If posters want Scarjo to be athletic to do moves of the Major she would have have to have a body like Crossfit or a gymnast.

This movie is a visual treat with a lot of things you really haven't seen before and some great action . Pretty damn good but will be interested to see if it can find an wide audience.
LOL at saying Scarlett isn't athletic enough. She damn well looks it and more than pulls it off. Oh, and this....
If people want athletic women they look like this.

The score in the footage I saw is gawd level, I will not be surprised if it's the single most praised element if the film.
Thats equivalent to Daft Punk in Tron Legacy.

Saw first 12 mins. That Clint Mansell score. That 3D and those visuals. That hint of Kenji Kawai (his theme will appear in the end credits for sure). Everything else...getting a very, uhh....Assassin's Creed vibe from this? Anyway, need to see this again (which I am in IMAX tomorrow) and the full film obviously - for which expectations are lowered and in check.
Haven't seen Assassin's Creed so don't know what the reference is. But I'm guessing it doesn't sound good.

Reminds me of Night At The Museum. JW2 should be distancing itself from that classic to avoid unfavourable comparisons.
Yeah wondering how a museum will be involve. Unless that museum is on another island surrounded by dinos again.

So back to square one. We don't know how much faith they have in this.
Well so far they've change the origin of the Major and I think I know what is happening in the story. It looks like a mix of different plots going on in the animated movie as well as tv series. Its like they grabbed different scenes and put them all in one. Perhaps they are showing Major and her team fighting crime but could be a larger plot connected to it all.

Not that much different then Bladerunner, IRobot, Minority Report or Terminator about culture and technology. Easy to Americanize it.
