No wonder the run was extended for two weeks in China. HK's theatres are packed.

Shrek 2? You people are crazy. Agreed with Skyfall. It was enjoyable, but not as good as some paint it to be.
-
That's because Pocahontas sucked though. It had a HUGE opening.
Pocahontas wasn't the best, but it's songs were amazing.

I can't believe that somebody said SM2 is overrated. And Captain America? Seriously?
-
The sing-along version in Italy as well!
It really surprises me that Russia didn't get sing-along version. The movie was crazy popular here, with $33m+. I don't get it.

You people are crazy. I say 500m+

Concept art?
looks pretty cool, really dig designs for now. I hope we'll see colored versions soon enough

Ice Age ? Madagascar ? Rio ?
On the contrary, movies about talking animals are quite successful.
Forgot about them, my mistake.
-
What is great is to see Disney can be successful by itself, without Marvel or LucasArts so I hope they will try to develop their own franchises or to use more of their underused ones.
I really don't understand why we can't see Mickey or Donald Duck movies anymore. Maleficent is a step in the right direction though.
I think it's mostly because movies about animals aren't exactly the most popular thing right now. The only popular one of the last many years is KFP, others were either underwhelming or flops.

Heh 1B without Japan? Who would've thought it was remotely possible. I had thought 1B was possible but it would've squeaked by just barely.
Just a month ago people thought 800 is barely possible even with 100m from japan. Funny how things turned out in the end.

Funny tidbit. Hong Kong's regionalized name of Frozen is 魔雪奇緣. Interestingly enough, it's just the Chinese name of Tangled (Strange Story/Destiny of the Magical Hair) with hair replaced by ice

Good list overall (you and I both have the proper respect for Frozen) but why so low on Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King?
It's just a position, it's not like BatB and TLK are many times worse than others. I just didn't enjoy them as much as others. Beauty was good for the most part, but it was a tad boring. TLK is great, but animals are not exactly my favourite thing.

DBZ is pretty good. If you skip a lot of filler episodes. Worth watching for epic battles and silly humor.
Original Dragon Ball is much more superior series. It has adventure, story, humor, characters, everything.

Disney decided to release it after the huge success Frozen songs experienced on youtube (Violetta's spanish version of Let it go -Libre soy- has more than 23 Million views on youtube
Man, i wish every country could get a sing-along version.

Total 1.236 billion.

I like your train of thought, count me in.

o.O
Okay, it looks like 'reasonable' just translates to 'wrong' when talking about Frozen. Over 910M worldwide after the nth 20+ OS weekend. Even the worst-case scenario (Lego hurting it big time, China's run ending on VD, domestic failing to reach 400M and SK losing its 'momentum') puts it above DM2 without Japan. 1 billion is locked, and TS3 is in serious jeopardy now. It seemed a completely silly, imaginative, crazy scenario just a few weeks ago. But if it really has to beat Toy Story 3 (arguably one of the 5 best animated movies ever), then I hope it's by a wide margin.
If it does 1.1b+, I'll consider it the 3rd best worldwide run in the modern history of box office.
Other 2 are Avatar and Avengers?

FROZEN debuted Wednesday in China and has grossed $13.7M to date. Worldwide total is now $913M ($368M Dom, $545M Int'l).
I wonder what weekend numbers are.
-
Calm down, people.
Toy Story 3 grossed 130 millions thanks to a very high 3D ratio and a very favorable exchange rate. Monsters University didn't sell much less tickets, yet it stopped at 90M. And both were extremely popular and anticipated in Japan. Rapunzel and WIR got 30+, so 50+ seems doable and 70+ possible.
Let's keep some sanity!
Rapunzel got 30 because of the tsunami (or earthquakes, i don't remember), otherwise i believe it'd do much better. And Frozen is massively hyped in a whole world right now, much more than i ever saw MU or TS3 being hyped. I'll say 70 is a minimum of what we can expect from it.
-
100m in Japan? Not sure.
It's possible. MU did 90, TS3 126. Frozen has a huge momentum and hype for it. I recall somebody saying that people are really excited for it over there (they also had best trailers, and such). So, i think 100 is doable. And it's Frozen, it likes to exceed any expectations.

Way to go South Korea! At least one Asian country can recognize an awesome film when they see it (I'm looking at you China...)
I never expected it to break out like this in SK. Amazing results.
-
11% on RT
Average rating 3.3/10
And looks like it made 1.6m OD.
Worst movie 2014?
-
SK Saturday 504k admissions, 7.28m total
How much more we can expect from it?

Weekend is here, excited to see how it fares this week.
