Timothee is also 21.  Hammer looks a bit too mature for this but everything about Shia is creepy and no he doesn't look 24 - nor is cinematically he the kind of man someone is going to fantasize about for their first love and sexual experience.

As for it being legal in Italy - it's legal in most of the US.  Age of consent -

    Blue = 16

    Olive Green = 17

    Light Green-= 18

I guess I kinda see where you're coming from. I'm still not completely gung-ho, but I might be a little bit premature on what I'm saying.

Does Tom even have sex in any of his movies now, with all the saving the world, and running while saving the world? He may be old enough to be the father of his leading ladies now but they are still far from high school age.

It's the 17 part,  especially when Armie is obviously not nearly that youthful in appearance. I know a couple of 2010s book-to-TV adaptations that bumped up teen characters involved in (hetero) sexual situations to 18, even if no laws were broken in the story's setting. You can never totally predict what "controversies" will spring up around a movie come awards season, I mean, La La Land being fascist takes the cake, but Americans in 2017 taking issue with a 17 year old character in sexual scenes with an adult is entirely predictable. Obviously some people won't care, some will say any backlash is homophobia, but I don't think it's entirely that, in this decade R-rated teen movies have really fallen out of favor at the box office, especially ones that delve into sex in any way, even the critically acclaimed movies flop. Though this isn't really a teen movie so...

Yeah, that's the one thing that bothers me about the movie. I don't know the age of consent in other countries, but it still makes me slightly uncomfortable to see a movie with a teen and an adult in a relationship. I prefer Hammer to Shia, but at least he looks like a 24-year old and would make the movie a little less creepy than 28-year old Hammer, who looks like he's in his 30s.

I imagine if BOT was around in 1997, we have people chiming about Titanic being a potential expensive disaster and how Tomorrow Never Dies would slaughter it.

Its amazing that Paramount and Fox didn't want a December release for Titanic. Now it's one of the prime release slot. The biggest weekend it had was actually Valentine's Day 1998.

BTW I hope The Full Monty gets a mention, that film was a unexpected success especially in the UK when it came out around the time Princess Diana died and I think audience needed an antidote to the tragedy

There's actually a very interesting thread made a couple of years back that was all about what a Titanic thread would probably be like. It's a long read, but an enjoyable one.

As for the movie, I feel bad to admit I only saw it last year, but I was surprised by how well it holds up. Most of it definitely comes down to the characters, but even the visuals themselves are still something to behold, even years later.

  4. As stated before, it's a little premature to say anything about the non-Dark Tower upcoming releases.

In my community, the only theaters that have presales up for Detroit, Kidnap, Annabelle and Nut Job are the AMC theaters. And where I'm from is predominately Regal, which only has Dark Tower presales up. In addition, The Glass Castle is so far only up in three theaters around my area, so that movie isn't even in a good chunk of AMC theatres.

Logan Lucky and Hitman's Bodyguard don't have presales up anywhere in my area, and just one look at LA shows it isn't up there either, so there isn't really a whole lot of data available. Even then, Dark Tower, Annabelle and maybe Hitman's Bodyguard are the only movies that should be getting noticeable presales anyway, since Detroit, Logan Lucky and Glass Castle skew old and lol Kidnap and Nut Job.

Something I saw on Awards Watch that's worth a share (not sure how reliable this is so don't @ me): https://zakkondratenko.com/2017/07/18/july-oscar-buzz/amp/

The main Fox branch will be pushing The Papers and Logan.

The Current War is apparently a piece of shit based on test screenings.

Weinstein wants to acquire another film because they aren't confident in anything they have.

    Marshall probably sucks.

    mother! will be big.
