Gru and his mischievous minions are hoping to fulfill their patriotic duty and once again set off major fireworks at the Fourth of July box office.
Illumination and Universal’s Despicable Me 4, opening Wednesday in theaters across the U.S., looks to post an opening day gross of $28 million for a five-day holiday debut of $120 million, including $70 million for the three-day weekend, according to early returns. That’s in line with expectations and a strong start for the fourth outing in the main franchise, and the sixth in the Despicable Me/Minions series, which combined ranks as the top-grossing animated franchise of all time

Dude has been retweeting/quoting a bunch of these kinds of tweets. I'm glad somebody is happy about this release date change. Hope Ridley gets asked about it and says somethining like "The fuck is this Barbenheimer shit?"

QuoteThe other night I was having dinner with a couple of industry veterans, both Oscar voters, who told me they had been talking to a top producer-financier who had seen two big studio movies coming out later in the year and both were fantastic.
He also saw the new Robert Zemeckis film Here, which stars and de-ages Tom Hanks and Robin Wright, also reuniting them from the 1994 Zemeckis film Forrest Gump. Both that one and Scott’s 2000 Gladiator took Best Picture and now it appears both veteran directors will be back in the race — big time.

I am somewhat concerned about what they may have done to not have to recast Elio if Yonas Kibreab hit puberty during the delay.
They should make it like Sword in the Stone and have three different kids voice the main character and none of them sound remotely alike lol

Let's not beat around the bush. @TomThomas is quite obviously and unapologetically a troll. Only thing that will shut them up is if everyone adjusts their ignore preferences to account for that fact.
Agreed.
Moderation
@TomThomas has been threadbanned for 24 hours for consistent concern trolling and negativity. You can be negative on a film's prospects, but when you post the same thing over and over and over and over again, it adds nothing to the conversation, derails threads, and makes everybody miserable. It is in fact okay to just ignore threads for movies you don't care about or aren't interested in and not miss anything. It's not what you say, it is how you say it. That is all.

@TomThomas this whole “women soldiers shouldn’t be hot” garbage isn’t funny and frankly kind of creepy. End this now, or else see a thread ban.

There is nothing artsy-fartsy or alienating about Bikeriders or even Challengers. If standard dramatic vehicles is too “art” or “ponderous”, then we have a lot of problems with our culture and society in general.

I think what’s helpful is that each movie is targeted toward a slightly different demographic. Parents who want to stay awake during the movie (IO2) and parents who want to take a nap (DM4).
How can you take a nap when you have to hear the Minions screech for 90 minutes?
