Stop using facts and logic MovieMan! It won't work.Oh really? TDK opened in 472 theaters in Australia. TDKR in 628, or +25% more theaters than TDK did. Sure seems like expansion to me.For comparisons sake TDKR had a +1% theater expansion in the US over TDK.

He's so cute when he cries!Yes, it is, Ariadne!

Not a good number, hopefully it stabilizes soon.
195/650 is what it would have done without the shooting. facts.

Welcome to the forum. Why are some ganging up on one user and talk shit about him?Chill the frak out
-
Will never not be funny.Really cool of Bale to go visit the injured people in hospital and doing it quietly and privately was the right thing to do.http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=YTihsJQHt48

They didn't report any number for Dark Shadows, wonder where the money went?So WB is expanding Dark Shadows from 239 to 412 theaters this weekend. It'd be hilarious if it found its way into the top 12.

I agree with baumer about the way some of you answer the weekly questions, it must be impossible to score. Just copy and paste, seriously not only does it make it difficult for you to keep track of your answers, think about the person who has to score them!

I agree with baumer on all counts - everything stands.

I'd be able to do it no problem. Do you have all your quotes and sources referenced? If not, get on to it as soon as you can. Once all the research is done, writing the damn thing shouldn't be too difficult. Can someone answer this random question for me? I have a research paper due in 80 hours.I've got almost all the sources. I'm gonna find a few more, which won't take too much time since it's about how money is used/spent/wasted in the presidential election. But the essay is around 15 pages double-spaced. If I have all the sources, finished the introduction, and made an outline about how I'll write the body...would it take less than 48 hours to complete?

I don't see how anyone could doubt that the shooting has had a major effect on TDKR's box office. It's reduced its OW take by at least $20m, probably more.

The box office for TDKR has definitely been affected, there's no way it would have done less than 180m if this hadn't happened.
-
I literally can't believe what's happening this weekend.

New Zealand. I went to the 7.30pm showing - my theatre wasn't even half full and none of the evenings shows sold-out - that's really unusual for such a big movie on a Sat night. I actually wonder if the news may be affecting the box office even here.Regardless, the movie was deeply flawed. WOM will be underwhelming.Where are you? It's Saturday morning here. I mean just after midnight.
-
In the movie, it's really dead for a Sat night - 30% occupancy at most.
-
This. It makes no sense to me that people would let some lone nutter interupt their plans.I wasn't actually going to see the movie tonight cause I'm tired from work, I was going to see it Monday, but I've decided to go see it in a couple of hours out of solidarity.Letting people like this have any power over you is what they want - if you let them scare you, they've won! This is so fucked up. This was supposed to be an epic weekend..asshole ruined everything. Can't believe some people are staying home out of some fear or even out of respect for victims. How is boycotting a movie showing them respect?

How many people returned their tickets roughly at your cinema? If people who already had tickets are too scared to come to the theatre - then that's lame. I hope that isn't happening elsewhere in the country. I guess if you lived nearby to the shooting you might think there's a remote possibility of a copy-cat or an accomplice, but still. They Can get Refunds mostly there reason was their friends were too scared to come to the theater that night.
-
People were returning tickets? Can they do that? That's super lame, you're far more likely to be killed driving to the cinema to return your tickets than anything else.I live in Colorado and work at a Theater in Denver Colorado. It was Modly decent but we still had people returning tickets even though they added extra Security at our place.

Just for reference, before he was banned, BKB did say the midnight number was disappointing and wasn't meeting expectations. The post is buried in the weekend thread somewhere.
-
What does it say?Anyone have last weeks Entertainment Weekly? I just looked over at it on my coffee table. Too much to read every post today if it's been mentioned. The tragic irony of last weeks cover is sobering. Poor choice of headlines in hindsight.
-
Eclipse did $30.1m midnights in 2010, so it clearly had more attendance than TDKR. BD2 did $30.25m last year, so that probably had better attendance too (as there have been huge IMAX screenings and sell outs for TDKR). DH2 has it beat in attendance as well.its already broken the record for most attended as well as most 2d midnight ever. What are you talking about?
-
That midnight number is disappointing, no way around it. I don't think this was breaking any records regardless.

It's bad that someone named one of the victims already. It just happened, not all family members may have been notified yet.
