A remake? Ooh not sure it's a classic all it's own..
-
Uh-oh. I've just realized in full a painful truth, spoilers about Part 2..
Old Peeta never truly returns does he? Yes Peeta remembers things, which is so wonderful, I'm going to cry when that happens in Part 2 and he loves Katniss so much just like the Old Peeta which is just so extraordinary imo from re-reading it again, and various other interpretations, what people have said this and that, the Old Peeta is really dead?
Peeta's still alive inside, just not the same person right? But oh man, this hurts badly.. Don't get me wrong, I think the way Collins ended the book was just right it was pretty darn realistic on many levels, where it's not exactly what you call a happy ending but it's a great one imo..It makes all the sense for Peeta to be horribly changed by the Capitol, but the fact he's not the same person, is almost saying him in the first two films, and throughout the first part of Mockingjay where he did everything he could to prevent war, even breaking down trying to save Katniss and the others..that Peeta I'll miss the most. But in a way as it all ends Peeta's disfigured more in a symbolic sense and it truly shows that Katniss loves him for who he is, even if the man she loves is really gone. NOOOO PEEEETTTAAA COME BACKKK..Now I'm thinking when he strangled her that obviously wasn't the Peeta we knew, but the broken Peeta who's scared and the poor darling has been broken down. So Peeta is still Peeta, just not exactly the same man Katniss fell in love with. Why can't I not compute this? Lol
If anyone else could give a little hindsight in this.. That would be so much appreciated..
Another Part 2 spoiler..
Also at the end when he asks her "You love me. Real or not real?" Is his mind still disabled in that way where he has to ask her things, to sort it out? I'm asking if he's kind of at the same stage where he also had to ask her much before this ofc, "You're still trying to protect me. Real or not real" Obviously he's improved much by the end of this, I would think..hmm.. Or..is the last line more a play on words to clarify?
Thanks again

Josh Hutcherson had a great performance. The scenes were he was being tortured in the Capitol talking to Katniss, then at the end where he strangles her giving off the yet heartbreaking stone-cold killer vibe..
Jennifer Lawrence and Julianne Moore dominated the film, I loved Woody Harrelson if there was a Haymitch movie I would watch it. Elizabeth Banks was funny at key moments, Phillip Seymour Hoffman added so much to the film, I think even a more brilliant CF performance. Liam Hemsworth I think nailed some emotional parts as Gale. I mean when he was looking down at the row of corpses, how could you not feel something? I think Liam was definitely good in this one. My father even said that all performances were very good, because if you were able to tell if there was one weak performance, you could see then the whole movie would have fallen apart.

PLOT TWIST.You mean the new forum will be ruled as an autocracy, like the Capitol in the Hunger Games saga ?
Bummer.

Lots of derailingWhat the hell? 30 pages in the last 2 hours? What happened?
-
I honestly don't knowDragon 2 missing 300 is still more inexplicable than even MJ1's OW for me. And then missing 200 as well?!? I mean god damn, how?
-
OS went up tho. YAAAAAAASS
-
That was shown in the trailers, I believe..Spoiler?

I don't care which movie's going to win the domestic crown this year. I loved both GotG and Mockingjay. And I know that I'm going to love Hobbit as well All this drama between the fanbases is beyond ridiculous.

Personally this is what I think worked for the split are several of the characters and their arcs, I'm not going to say why but having a three hour movie, not that it would have been a bad thing, but long before seeing the movie I had always felt some of the biggest scenes coming up now for Part 2, the impact could be lost or even rushed to an extent if it was stuffed in all at once. They paced out Part 1 very well.
-
Part 2 will definitely have some of the best scenes.Oh please. The film is third film Part 1 that departs from the two earlier book and is quite dark. Part 2 has the good stuff from the book. And this film will still make over $800 million. Not bad at all.
-
Hey Fullbuster, have you got a chance to see the movie yet?
(Not sure if I asked this before just curious )
-
Because MJ1 you had more people dying, the Hanging Tree scene, you had the scenes with Peeta where he looked like he was being abused, you had the opening scene where you saw Katniss was struggling, you even had Peeta nearly choke the life out of her. Even if I am too in the minority, I just felt there was a little more emotionally happening in this one.
-
I got to say stepping out of the theater, no lie this is how I felt. I felt it had a little more of an emotional punch than CF did.I'm in the minority and I know most of y'all are gonna come at me for saying it, but fucking yes, it's Hunger Games' best entry so far. I fucking loathed the latest book, it was a lazy written atrociously paced bore to read through for a vast part of it, its second part was a good read though imo. Nevertheless, this film killed me! As gorgeous as ever Jen totally nails her role as Katniss, Same goes to all the cast, great performances from Woody, Elizabeth, Julianne, Phillip, Josh, Natalie, Sam and the rest. Absolutely ate up its darkish tone, setting and the music - omg the hanging tree got me haunted so much. MJ1>CF>>>>>THG
It sailed past CF gross here in Poland during its openign weekend despite a far worse exchange rate. A Potter-like opening!
Europe as expected delivered!

Oh and I should say that I've always thought one of the signs that show someone's a great actor is that they can intentionally portray bad acting really well and JLaw does that in a scene here.
Yeah, the propaganda scene. I loved the whole thing about Katniss's forced performance while first filming the propo.
-
WHAT! I wanna see that!
It was really cool, it kinda left you with something anticipating the second part
-
Yeah, at the end it was pretty epic. It looked a lot like the book, the bird actually broke freeWait did the logo change?
And it was kinda like a miniplosion

Wait. What the fuck? Is there anything after the scene with him screaming tied to a bed? The whole theatre emptied after that scene.
After the credits there was only the Mockingjay logo
-
Exactly what happened in the theater for me.
Yeah it was obvious but it was so much brutal than what I could've imagined is what I meant.
-
It really is a moving scene.I listened to this all day:
[mod edit]
I initially didn't like it but now that I've seen the movie I keep connecting it to that scene and it's sooo good. Definitely the best scene in any HG movie. Very moving.
Could it have a chance to win Best Original Song? Or since the lyrics' in the book it's not considered orginal? I don't know how this works.
-
OS is kicking ass no where near is it a freaking flop
Don't give me that bull about OW numbers it's doing good overseas
No way is this movie an overall flop
-
I'm listening to that song tooI'm just going to keep listening to JLaw's Hanging Tree. It's making me feel better and better.
Sing to me JLaw. Lul me into a trance away from this sorrow thread.

I'm not a douche or anything, but I just want to have the satisfaction to say I told you so.
Basically, I told you so.
You told me nothing! God, the whole point of this conversation was how despite whatever you call facts, and I don't mean actual factual data such as numbers..but using a sort of bias to lead your predictions and the crazy lowballing for DOM or what have you..
but
went over your head
