  1. I believe Aquaman can leg it to $300 million during the holiday season and barren January. I think it broke the $500 million sound barrier already.

This is a big win for the DCEU. They should build and build upon this success. The MCU is running out of ideas and coming close to the end. They say Avengers 4 will conclude the franchise. The DCEU will replace the MCU to become the highest grossing franchise and the comic book staple for audiences at the theaters.

Damn first Ralph now Poppins underperformance  Wonder if this means Disney will act humble in the future, or if they're gonna be vicious like a wounded animal.

Is there any possibility they instate something like no child/senior prices for their films and everyone has to pay premium prices? They already have rules about people with physical disabilities not getting discounts like they would for other films.

They waited too long to release a sequel for both films. The anticipation wears off and people are less hyped to see it. I think 4 years should be the minimum amount of time to release a sequel.

There’s no reason to think this is gonna flop

Domestically i don’t expect nothing huge but under $ 200M is just dumb... this will probably land between $ 250-300M which is good enough.

But OS will be huge, the brand is much bigger than BTAB was... even with the strong competition it has a good shot at +600M.

WW could be anywhere between $ 850-950M and i bet Disney will be happy.

There's a lot of competition in foreign markets too. Big tentpoles like detective pikachu, godzilla 2, toy story 4, john wick chapter 3, secret life of pets 2, and x-men: the dark Pheonix are released within a close timeframe. It's going to be a real struggle.

Is safe to say that this film and Dumbo will struggle. I'm still looking forward to Lion King, Little Mermaid and Mulan remakes though.

Dumbo isn't facing that much competition. It comes out 2 weeks after captain marvel and there doesn't seem to be any competition until Avengers end game arrives in late April. I think it'll have a solid run.

  5. I smell box office disaster for these reasons:

Release date- it was bad idea to release it on Memorial Day. BO data shows that films fare poorly on this weekend. There's way too much competition. It's going to be a crowded hot sweaty summer.

Early buzz- they shouldn't have released those images when the film is early in development. The film is being trashed on social networks for its portrayal of Genie, Aladdin and the style of the film.

Guy Ritchie- Disney hired the wrong director for this film, but i hope he succeeds.

Audience fatigue- Like what i said earlier, it's too crowded and audiences might get tired of seeing blockbuster after blockbuster or save money to go see bigger titles like Avengers 4, the lion king, toy story 4, detective pikachu, and Godzilla 2.
