It's Woody Allen doing the same old shit so if you havent liked Allen in the past you wont like this either.
I never have really thought his "bad movies" have been actually had. Critics seem pretty feeble when it comes to what they like by him.

She was awesome in F4
Their point was that all of the movies she has been in have flopped.
Just bought the book today! I'm pretty excited.
-
Those two words are synonymous.
Besides, with the endless production of SH movies, mediocre might as well mean bad.
Connotation is key
And that is not how that works...
-
But truly "bad" film-making really isn't all that subjective. I don't think IM2 exhibits that.
Amen.
-
I will say that Fantastic Four isn't as bad as Iron Man 2 or Spirit of Vengeance
EVERYONE SAY IT WITH ME:
Iron Man 2 is not a bad movie. It is mediocre at worst and average at best. All of the Iron Man 2 promotional material is likely better than a single second of this 100 minutes atrocity.
Let's not be obtuse because it is one of MCU's worst movies.

Seeing this on Monday and I am actually really excited.

Is Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind on here? It has to be, but I can't find it on mobile.

Um, Interstellar was the new Christopher freakin' Nolan film with the award winning McConaissance attached. And even it missed 200. So that should really prove the Martian doesn't have a shot.
No one cares about Nolan in the real world lol.
I didn't even know Interstellar was a thing until after it came out.

Don Cheadle- Miles Ahead
Eddie Redmayne- The Danish Girl
Leonardo Dicaprio- The Revenant
Michael Fassbender- Steve Jobs
Geza Rohrig- Son of Saul
Michael Caine- Youth
Bradley Cooper- Burnt (can't doubt him with his record. Have a feeling this will close TIFF)
Ian McKellen- Mr Holmes
Tom Hiddleston- I Saw The Light
Abram Attah- Beasts of No Nation.
This category is luckily getting a little stronger. I have little confidence in Depp or Cranston. Probably not giving enough credit to Hanks, the role just looks basic and like something he can do in his sleep. If he didn't get a non for Captain Phillips, I don't see why he'd get one here.

Cinematography looks kinda easy to predict from this point - The Revenant, The Hateful Eight, Carol, Sicario, Spectre and Mad Max seem like the only movies with a big enough chance to get in, and I think either Sicario or Spectre will get the snub. Though it's possible I'm just not paying enough attention to the boring period pieces like Suffragette or The Dressmaker.
I think Joy has a great chance too. DOR's movies have never been stunning in cinematography, but that trailer is absolutely gorgeous and dreamlike.

Inside Out
The Good Dinosaur
Shaun the Sheep
When Marnie Was There
Anomalisa
Peanuts
The Little Prince
Anomalisa is definitely in if it gets US distribution this year. It's Kaufman and claymation. The Academy will eat that shit up.

wow. look at that RT ave rating.
looks like this year's boyhood/selma
98 at Meracritic.

Is this even going to get distribution? Really sad year for Watts.
Edit: Don't anyone interpret that frown for pity on this movie. Those reviews and reactions speak for themselves.

Jennifer Aniston-Pitt
Anniston looks hotter now than ever. Can't say the same about Pitt, but he is still quite handsome.

This is ridiculous.
pitt is a better actor than jolie, pitt is great in drama and comedy, is a very versatile actor, jolie can not do comedy.
pitt is most respected than jolie, her resume is miles away better than her.
Shutting this down. What's the point of pitting them against each other? They will never compete for the same award ever and both have great filmographies and an Oscar.
They have great on screen chemistry and this movie will be led by that, not by someone stealing the show.
-
I just watched this again. The trailer is beautiful and super well directed. The shot of Jolie crying on the bed is stunning and the sea is captured so iridiscently. I am hoping for a brighter but still as harrowing Blue Valentine thematically, but I decent film directed by Jolie would be a huge win too.

This was absolutely phenomenal. Technically impeccable and so incredibly well acted especially by Sidse. There is a tinge of creepiness that balances out the sexy and morose. This is so much more than any way I could describe it. The atmosphere is so fantastic and cinematic; it totally engrossed me.
One of the few films this year that I think will only get better with age and more rewatches.

This actually looks really great. My interest is definitely piqued.

Just got done watching this. I found it quite insightful, nostalgic and touching. Woody Allen and Diane Keaton had lovely chemistry and turned in great performance.
Some very clever editing and charmingly self aware. I found the last monologue quite sincere and it left me thinking about relationships.
Classic. 4/4

This is likely the most beautiful movie I have ever seen. Yet it is quite tedious and reflective. I think I will appreciate it a lot more when I am older.

Can we get a Jauja (2015) thread going pretty please?
-
Okay. I guess I will see this at TIFF. Being in the same room as Chastain makes it worth it and the buzz is crazy.
-
I hated this. Ugly directing, poor pacing, emotionally manipulative and thoroughly unappealing. Gyllenhaal "saved" it as only Gyllenhaal could.
The first scene was really great about establishing tension, but somehow that was the most tense part of the film.
I don't even hate the genre. In fact, Raging Bull is my all time favorite film.
Whatever. 1.5/4 D

I am kind of glad it is rated R. I think the script will breath better if Sorkin doesn't have to bite his togue and limit the F-bombs.

Apparently Sienna Miller has been completely cut from this.
