I will not stand by this Scream slander. Radio Silence delivered the best sequel in the franchise (VI). They know how to use a camera and are able to deliver striking imagery in those two films, and their depiction of violence works well.

I strongly prefer Scream 2 and 4, i think they’re both exceptional and kinda underrated.

I find Scream 5 coward, but 6 is decent indeed, and very well made. I just think it lacks Wes soul.

  2. Civil War was pretty great. I’m slightly confused about the discourse of the movie being unclear about it’s ideology, i though it was obvious they was dealing with a fascist in the moment the line “third mandate” dropped. It helps that nearly all the people we see in the pov of our characters are women, Asian, black, queer and other minorities.

It paints the picture that usually starts all war, fascism and repression towards minorities that have to fight back, i didn’t really needed any backstory to get what triggered it, and the specified details of how seems really unnecessary to what the movie is doing.

Really liked how it portraits a victory against fascism, showing how the left have to drop our ideas of being morally superior and get our hands dirty in order to win, it’s dehumanizing for sure, not pleasant at all to think about, but seems like a cold hard truth to me.

And of course it’s a very interesting discussion about the very idea of registering something so difficult, very meta when you think about what the movie is portraying. But yeah, overall great movie, loved Dunst, Plemons and Moura performances especially.

And of course, trying to stay on topic now, i’m very happy about it’s performance, 55% drop for this is pretty great. I think 70-75M finish is likely.

  3. Abigail was fun, but i do think the trailer revealing the nature of it’s plot hurted the experience a lot since the first half is a big build up to a reveal we already expect from the first second. Still, very fun movie, not as good as Ready or Not but more interesting than what Radio Silence did with Scream.

I for one am shocked - SHOCKED - that Film Twitter was dead wrong and the general public didn't come out to support for Melissa Barrera!?

They wouldn’t come out to support this movie even if she didn’t comment anything lol, look at how disappointing every non-blockbuster movie is performing these days

Still stupid to fire her from Scream, people clearly loved her and Jenna on that franchise.

Sadly, in the country of free speech telling the truth is a horrible crime apparently and should be punished even if it derails a stablished rebrand.

Lady Raven is played by his daughter. He made an entire movie for the sole purpose of promoting his daughter's music that's next level nepo babying.

    it does look fun though.

He’s producing the debut movie of his other daughter (Ishana i think), and it looks great.

He couldn’t produce a movie for one daughter and not give something to the other, a good dad!

The latest trailer has 80k likes. That seems very little. I'm not very optimistic about the box office.

IMO this franchise appeals mostly to older audiences, maybe it have something to do with it’s low engagement compared to other blockbusters

That said i agreed that there’s no much reason to expect a boom here. I’m expecting very similar results to Fury Road (which means a considerable drop in admissions).

Just hoping it’s a good movie

If by first movie you mean the ultra real remake, I agree. Of course, that is what I think about all the live action/ultra real animation remakes of classic animated films.

If you mean the 1994 original, you are just wrong, wrong, wrong. It is not my favorite of the Disney animation revival movies, but it damn good.

    Noooo, it’s the remake hahah

The original is very good, not my favorite either but undeniably good.

  8. The first movie is a souless and stupid waste of time, the still they released for this is awful and yet ... i´m morbidly curious about what Jenkins can put into this [or if he can]

I´m expecting another boring snoozefest, but it wouldn´t completely shock me if this turned out to be those rare surprisingly decent sequels to awful movies [like Ouija 2 from Flanagan]

  9. This is a very tiresome and boring discussion but i have to say ... anyone that watches movies regularly can tell very clearly that this is a musical based on it´s trailers

Not putting them singing for 3 minutes straight isn´t hiding, there shouldn´t be a discussion about this imo but good for the movie if they can make something so obvious generate arguments

I don't see how dumb fun sequel to such a beloved movie is fine, it's gonna flop even harder if it's as mediocre as Napoleon.

Napoleon is mediocre because the movie is a snoozefest past it´s first half, i´m not expecting the same here clearly.

And honestly, this is a beloved movie but it doesn´t have fanbase and people actively overanalyzing it, i´m sure most people from general audiences would be fine with dumb fun if it´s you know... good and well made

  11. 81% on RT

    57 on MC [but there´s a 8/10 missing, so probably 61-62]

Hard to be sure where this will go once more people watch it, but seems like it can still ended up with solid reception. Hope this translate well to it´s box office, i´m still very frustrated about The First Omen

  12. Since there’s nothing concrete to discuss, another rumor around the test screenings just dropped. Same thing, good reactions overall but there’s division about it’s weird tone and performances that doesn’t seems to be the typical comedy.

Reactions have been good, but not great with general audiences and everyone I’ve spoken to split on Ruffalo’s Trump-like performance and Pattinson’s voice. I can see why Warner Bros isn’t confident in this one, but I did like it.”

I heard the movie is movie is simply Okja level weird and offputting but by no means bad. Not a binary, black and white thing why they made this release choice.

That aligns with the more concrete info about test screenings we had, good reception but offputting and not super commercial neither award bait.

WB already have a bunch of IP’s with apparently stronger award prospects to release in the next months, maybe January without competition is the best option for it commercially afterall, who knows.
