No one should be downplaying the MCU massive impact. Marvel did take a huge risk initially. Marvel deserves all the credit in the world and the DC fans should know that they wouldn't be getting these movies if Marvel hadn't been as successful as it has.

I'm pretty sure they would still go ahead with comic book's movies after the massive success of the Dark Knight trilogy, regardless of Marvel. Why wouldn't they? They always knew Superman is as big as Batman (with similar box office potential).

Worst case scenario - it follows MoS dailies post Independence Day weekend for MoS. It ends with 382M. Would basically mean a 4.8M weekend and a 70% fall from last weekend. Next worst case is following SS dailies from this weekend forward, would get it to 387M, which would mean a 5.7M weekend and a 65% fall from last weekend. 390 looks highly possible unless it collapses 70% this weekend.

If it gets to 395M, it will get dragged over the 400M mark by WB come what may since the target will be too close to not do it. Anything below 395M may not be worth it.

So it's more likely than not that WW is going to beat Guardians 2?

A lot of critics are as invested as fans. They became critics because they were fans especially in the Internet age.

Anyways, I remember making a bet with grim months ago. I'm going to lose it i think but that's because the OW is going to be bigger than I thought. But I thought the total had a ceiling not because of the property but because I predicted Batman vs. Superman was going to be, like other Snyder movies, hate it or love it. I still think that's true although to be honest....outside of the RT score, I haven't read that many reactions.
