  1. Agree to a certain point, but I think for a franchise like Star Wars, you do have to keep fans in mind to some degree.
  2. By the way, assuming TRoS doesn't have amazing legs in the coming weeks, you can kiss these three narratives goodbye: 1. The middle part of a Star Wars trilogy always makes the least money WW. 2. Those who hated TLJ and those who became apathetic toward Star Wars after TLJ, were only a tiny minority. 3. Rian Johnson is getting his trilogy.
  3. I look at JJ and Rian as a symptom of the real problem over at Lucasfilm right now. To be fair, JJ was a decent choice to kick off the new trilogy, but giving Rian Johnson so much control was such a miscalculated move. Then to have JJ finish the trilogy, along with Chris Terrio writing, was just....oof.
  4. I'm kinda surprised if he's not gonna be THE guy to spearhead future Star Wars films. If I were in his shoes, I would've looked at Endgame as my Marvel Swansong, and then move on to other projects and pass the torch to someone else to lead the MCU. But I guess he wants to keep going. Dude must really love Marvel.
  5. I mean what are they gonna do? The brand is damaged at this point because of the ST, so the question is how do they win audiences back in a way that they can restore the hype and box office success they had with TFA? I think the best thing they can do is put Star Wars movies on ice for a long time, and focus on television. I know they've got a few shows in the works, but I think they should come up with one show that's their main eventer. Have a show with an endearing and loveable cast of characters, hire brilliant storytellers, and aim the show at adults. Yes, adults. I'm not suggesting to fill a Star Wars show with hardcore violence, sex and cussing. But give it a more mature tone. Star Wars at it's best, has always taken the more mature and serious approach to storytelling.
  6. I actually think it's a good thing if it does less than TLJ. Because if it were to surpass TLJ, I'd be concerned the lesson Disney/LF would learn from that. "Aha, so we need to do less risk taking, and focus more on the familiar and nostalgic. We have to keep playing it safe."
  7. So is this gonna be like TFA where people love it at first because it's safe and full of fan service, but once the dust settles and people think about it more, opinions on it get worse over time?
  8. So I think we can all agree that audiences in general seem to like the movie more than Critics. By how much? We don't know yet. But here's my question. Is this the kind of crowd pleasing film that's gonna get a lot of repeat viewings?
  9. I just came from my viewing at the IMAX. There was about 500 people in the theater, with TONS of enthusiasm and clapping leading up to the beginning of the movie. People were cheering when the title crawl started. When the film ended, there was very few scattered claps heard in the theater from maybe a dozen people or so. The rest were silent. In fact all the big "Wow!" moments in the film were met with silence. It was pretty awkward and telling. I really don't know what kind of legs this film is gonna have.
  10. In all the leaked vids I've seen (which was alot), the theater was completely silent in all of them. I mean compare that to all those reaction videos in theaters, of people absolutely loosing their minds during certain moments in Endgame.
