Is it actually a flop though? No production budget, don't really need to spend on new marketing. Maybe a few TV spots here and there, but it's really just a bit of free money for them.

I mean how much money does a studio pay per theatre??? the studio could use those screens for another one of their movies which would give them more money? because i'd understand re-releasing an old classic in 100 theatres but CI was sent to 708 and the PTA is $40....
I actually DID watch CI on theatres in 1999, this is so depressing lol

Maybe if they try to give it a wide release, but I would kill to watch Titanic on the big screen, or Spider-Man (2002)

There are a lot of older films that because classics that I never got to experience in theaters that I would love to experience in a theatrical setting.
Yeah I'm sure we all have movies we'd love to see on the big screen but financially wise its always a flop for studios

Cruel intentions is one of my fav movies but they need to stop putting old movies again on theatres. it always fails at the box office, doesnt it?

Do you guys genuinely think that this be eventually released, even if just on DVD or streaming or whatnot? Of all the upcoming superhero films, this was the one that I was anticipating the most. Saddens me that we might never see the result...
has a big budget film ever been filmed and not released? come on...

this looks good now. much better than the first teaser

The original script when Sacha Baron Cohen was on board had Freddie die halfway through, with the rest of the movie being about the other band members trying to get through the loss. Probs what the sequel plot could be all about.
well nobody will care, at all. queen died with freddie.

I'm baffled by the lack of marketing of this movie. I2's trailer came out in april last year, but the hype for it was insane; there's not much for TS4, at least not as perceivable, so maybe a trailer before april could be beneficial (or not even a trailer, just a teaser that actually shows some parts of the movie). I mean, families will probably go see it regardless of how much hype or not there is on the internet, but i feel like there's something missing right now. Idk, a trailer attached to Dumbo would be nice, perhaps.
there's still a year and 3 months left...

Pacific Rim had a sequel because China grossed over $100M and they believed the Chinese audience could expand much further.
well they're dumb for thinking that? HDD2 will finish with 7x its budget. hit. i dont know why they wouldnt do it, i mean, they know they'll get their budget back several times unlike with flops like upgrade, amytiville, the darkness or jem
-
so the first flop in this list is ALITA? sad.

clearly doesnt have that much of a fanbase when hdd2 opened to $9 million.
you dont get it...
by your reasoning, why did pacific rim have a sequel? im sure the studio could have given a sequel to other more profitable movie

speaking of Ouija 2, if that can't get a ouija 3 made, then I dont see why a hdd tree would happen, given 2U made significantly less than ouija 2, on the same budget.
HDD actually having a fanbase and the movies being well liked probably?? im sure jason b has more love for HDD saga than ouija, plus the director and jessica rothe are an amazing team

I'm shocked with its domestic performance. Movie won't even make 30 million total. That's almost what the previous one got alone for its opening weekend.
its better than the original. i cant believe trash like ouija 2 did better
anyway the movie's gonna end up doing 7-8x its budget so im praying for a 3quel but i doubt it
-
is there gonna be CM2?? i heard the MCU is ending ?
