Madame Web starts with 69% audience score on RT. Ouch. No Morbillions in sight for this one.

It's fun to describe movies without reference to IP:
'A giant lizard with pink energy powers teams up with a giant gorilla wearing a power gauntlet in order to take down a giant orangutan.'
-
Disney have had so much red ink this year they could drop all of it into the Red Sea and it would turn literally into the Red Sea.

79% drop is 🤪 absolutely fucking crazy, LMAO! Even if you factor in loss of PLFs, etc yada yada this is total, complete and utter rejection!

Hopefully Sony will be as shameless as ever about sprinkling its movie with Sony product placement so it can be used as a drinking game.
-
Sure would love to have a crystal ball right now and look into the opening weekends of Cap 4 and Thunderbolts. Perhaps the landscape for live action cape stuff recovered or became even more passé. Interesting times ahead.
(FWIW, I don't think Deadpool 3 will tell much about the state of live action superhero stuff because the movie pretty much sells itself. Even Superman: Legacy might "sell itself" if it looks impressive. The newer / lesser known characters are the question mark...)

Overseas might finish below what CM1 opened to domestically...

Maybe the mods could merge the two threads.

Three markets and in all of them the WOM is really poor. I think we can already extrapolate that the WOM is unlikely to be recommendation level "good" anywhere...

Holy mother of god.

🇫🇷 Allocine viewers' score down to 2.3/5...
🇰🇷 CGV score the same (74%).
-
So, 4 splats vs 1 intact red tomato. Not exactly an encouraging ratio to start with.
-
Looks like this movie will have to take the one-two punch of low opening, and bad legs (at least according to the initial Allocine and CGV scores).

Which market?
Finland.

The pre-sales in my market are abysmal. Unless it somehow gets out of this world WOM, there's no saving this movie.
-
It has encouragingly decent pre-sales in my market for the opening day, nice.
-
Usually I get a localized snippet/short clip about every upcoming (would-be)blockbuster on my social media feed but this time I can't remember seeing anything related to this movie. Unless they are saving it for next week. Nevertheless, the marketing efforts seem muted.
-
If it loses over two thirds of CM1's OW, that's absolutely crazy. Usually that only happens to sequels coming off of novelty/fad predecessors. Things have really changed for live action superhero stuff on the big screen in quite dramatically short frame of time.

The new footage looks absolutely amazing. Should be breathtaking in IMAX!

The October record was there for the taking. Bleh.

Nearly spat out my drink when I saw the budget for The Fall Guy. F*****g hell! 🫠 Going to be lots of red ink on this one.
At least Uni will have Despicable Me in the summer.
