I'm generally against retconning for anything except obvious unintended mistakes. Fine, fix those.
But changing your intent because some people didn't like it? Nah, count me out on that for sure.

So the arc would be ruined if instead of dying at the end of TLJ, he teleported instead? Even Mark Hamill says he likes to pretend that's what happened.
Yes, it would. That was quite clearly the end of Luke's story. A very fitting end. Changing it would be a giant mistake.

Was it from homophobes over Brokeback?
Some probably. And that his looks and roll types were a million miles away from The Joker.
People were genuinely shocked at what he pulled off, remember.

Was there really? I was very into the latest movie news and discussion at the time and I honestly don't remember that whatsoever.
Yes, it was pretty strong at the time.

Luke's arc was the only part of TLJ that really worked for me. Retconning it is a very ill-advised move.

I feel pretty confident the Boba Fett movie will be made.
If for no other reason than Disney must put out at least one Star Wars every year to drive all the toys and theme parks and so on. And this one has a safe director and is announced.
The Rian Johnson stuff, I lean against ever seeing the light of day. He's a lightning rod and they can fill in with whatever the GOT guys do.

I've said before, the decision about what to do has been made. They're going back to more experienced mainstream directors. JJ for Ep IX and Mangold for Boba Fett.
They don't need to worry about an angry small minority of the fanbase. They just need to make good movies, and they've taken steps in that direction.

Here's how to fix Star Wars:
Make a good movie.
That's it.

Yeah it was a top 10 movie of it's year, number 5 Worldwide, doing better than that now is probably doing a bit above what Logan did last year for an recent example, very similar worldwide performance for both I think.
But even unadjusted 450m is a lot to beat big recent success story like, 50 shades did 381m, Showman 432m, for all is giant success even La la land didn't reach it with a nice 60m China + south korea push.
The thing this trailer sells me on is it's a female-oriented reboot that men will have no problem enjoying. So it should have wide appeal.

Will be hard, Ocean 11 did 183m in 2001 that 293m adjusted for ticket inflation and 259m for regular purchasing power inflation. With a good 40/60 dbo/intl for the time.
Ok, adjusted is a long shot.

I like the new trailer quite a bit. Drives home the star power and the tone quite well.
This really should do quite well, maybe the best of the series.

It's dinosaurs and volcanoes. Even if it's mediocre domestic, it's gonna make $5 billion overseas.

I always wondered if it wasn't Universal who did this meme.
It is way too well made to be some sort of amateur work.
Could just be some bored pro. A lot of memes are.

Who is the audience for survival romance, though? I guess it'll do ok, but it's hard to see it breaking out at all.

Jumanji and Black Panther are nowhere near as shocking as The Greatest Showman. Movies never go from bomb to megahit.
I...yeah, I agree on this actually.

Jumanji's run was awesome but not more surprising than Black Panther making 700M, come on
A MCU movie set records - A little surprising, but not exactly a shock.

Jumanji's run is more surprising than Black Panther, and that's just from the last year, much less last decade.

Jar Jar Binks is one of Lucas's great creations.
His speech supporting Palpatine was his finest moment.

Well now the 4-day is $114M.
It's a miracle recovery, folks!

I'm not gonna say TLJ had no effect - probably did- but when Jurassic World 2 drops 500m worldwide this summer I hope those same people say that JW is divisive. Sometimes it is just hard to recapture the lightning in the bottle of a once in a lifetime perfect storm megahit like TFA or Jurassic World.
It'll still be Kathleen Kennedy's fault for producing the first three. And her husband producing Fallen Kingdom.
That's what the angry boys will say.

Oh. Well, I'll live. Back to the light happy comedy of my username's film, I suppose.

Are you guys really just figuring out that the trades are just PR outlets for the studios?
