  1. Blockbusters Update:

Avengers:Infinity War has opened to $822K in Romania (biggest CBM opening weekend ever) and has currently grossed $2.5M (biggest haul for a CBM movie, outgrossing Thor:Ragnarok's $2.1M, Suicide Squad's $2.1M and Black Panther's $2M)

Deadpool 2 has opened to $645K in Romania and has currently grossed $1.5M. Next week it will exceed Deadpool's $1.6M haul.

Solo:A Star Wars Story completely bombed with $182K on OW and $448K to date. TFA opened to aprox. $950K, TLJ to $770K, RO to $440K.

Jurassic World:Fallen Kingdom opened with $328.75K, exceeding JW on opening weekend ( aprox. $255K ). JW had very good legs and got to $1.25M, WOM and the World Cup could prevent Fallen Kingdom from reaching those legs.

The Incredibles 2 release date is July 27th, AMATW July 6th.

    EDIT: prevent*

So why are so many people trying to belittle this one?  Even if it drops to 400 in North America (which I doubt it drops that low), with the low number of 700 internationally, this is going to do at leaxst 1.2 billion WW.  So a drop of 30% seems reasonable.

However, a more reasonable number, at least the way I see it, is about 1.3-1.35 billion.

Just seems like some people want to criticize films without any kind of perspective.

    Finally something that makes sense.

I think that is based on your definition of flopping.

I think this movie will gross 1B WW.

I think something like 450 + 950 is possible (950=675+275) might overestimate OS-China and underestimate Dom and Ch.

Sorry for starting three sentences with 'I'.

    I think you're quite right.

I think you just named my exact same prediction, thus JW2 would take the no.2 spot on the ww top in 2018.

I think that it might go a little higher or lower than $1.4B, depending on reception & the world cup.

Wow, do you guys think this is indicative of what will happen in the rest of the world. Or is Korea just nuts about dinosaurs?

Movie will probably overperform in many countries. After the huge success of JW in 2015, I couldn't really understand why JW2 was predicted to do about $1.1-1.3B WW.

Solo will probably lose around $100m. IW on the low end is making $600m in pure profit. Not a bad deal!

Deadline estimated $600M profit for IW with a $1.875B ww total ( $600M Dom + $275M China + $1B Os-China). It'll make $650M+ profit. Likewise BP's profit was estimated at $460M with a $1.25B ww total -> Now it looks like it could make $500M.

The Liopleurodon was actually way smaller than most people know. The BBC documentary "walking with dinosaurs" used another species (Monster of Arramberi/Pliosaurus) for Liopleurodons appearance and even then it was greatly exaggerated. More info here if you are interested:

The "monster of Aramberri" is the denomination that was given to the fossil remains of a huge marine reptile, a giant carnivore belonging to the Pliosauroidea clade that was found in Aramberri, Nuevo León, Mexico by a student of the Facultad de Ciencias de la Tierra of the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León while conducting geological mapping in 1985

It was originally estimated that the remains belonged to a young individual which was more or less 15 meters long (both claims are questionable[2]), claims of the specimen being 18 meters long were created by media.[3] It was initially falsely identified as Liopleurodon ferox;[4] this conclusion was used in BBC's Walking with Dinosaurs, in which the individual was the base to depict a very big Liopleurodon. French and German paleontologists classified it as a giant pliosaur, which lived around 140 millions years ago in shallow waters of the area, in what is now Aramberri, Mexico.

The specimen is not properly named and described yet though the first assumptions of it being a juvenile individual have been outdated and that it is apparently not related to Liopleurodon ferox. It remains possibly one of the largest pliosaur known, and perhaps the largest,[3] even though recent size estimates that compare the cervical vertebrae of the Aramberri pliosaur with those of Kronosaurus (possibly a close relative[5]) yield smaller estimates, i.e. a mean length of 11.7 meters and a mean body mass of 15 metric tonnes

Now, the Mosasaur in JW is still way too big, but Jurassic Park movies arent documentarys. They use bullshit science and im more than ok with that  Even in the first JP, they got nearly all the dinosaurs completely wrong.

Thanks, you sure do know your dinos :D

I really hate to be that guy, but she actually got eaten by the Mosasaur, which isnt a dinosaur but a marine reptile

Random question: Wasn't the Mosasaur in JW too big? I mean I've heard that it could've been a "Mosasaurus maximus", but the reptile had the size of a Liopleurodon more than a Mosasaur.:kitschjob:

    Youre crazy.

Honestly, i might be a JW stan, but i remain very realistic about this movies box office. Right now, without any official reviews, the lowest it can go imo is 130M OW. Anything under that is pretty much impossible. The first reactions from Spain are incredibly positive about the film and the matter of fact is, the people love them dinosaurs. This aint Solo: A Star Wars Story,

JW:FK > BP WW, I'm very confident about this. Movie will go nuts over in China
