I agree its very flat in terms of colour and contrast, but that doesnt make it a TV movie.

Well no but it still looks like one. Also the story is very bad and basic. No character motivations, nothing suspenseful. It's just a bad movie in general.

genuine question, what about The Avengers makes it a "TV movie"?

I've seen this term thrown around a lot in this board about the first Avengers.

It looks like a TV movie. The way it was shot. There is no depth or shadow to the colour.

You know that GoT is on TV right? You know its not competing for the same dollars? GoT is also traditionally released in April, so its not like it moved dates to be spiteful.

Even if GoT was going to have a negative effect it would only be in the US from about 5pm Sunday anyway.

It's still competing for TIME and attention. Do you think that the average person is willing to watch a 1+ hour long GOT episode and a 3 hour long movie the same day?

WB DOESN'T CONTROL THE DAY-TO-DAY OPERATIONS OF HBO!

They're two different assets owned by the same parent company (Time Warner). That's like saying that LucasFilm scheduled Toy Story 4 to come out in June or something.

WB only needed to send out a request and HBO would follow. It's obvious that they have been trying to stop the Marvel train this entire year. Shazam being released after Captain Marvel - to try to suck up some of the GA interest for SH movies before EG

Winterfell episode debuting same weekend as EG

Pikachu released 2 weeks after EG to cut off it's legs.

You can disagree with the sentiment in La Binoche's original words; but there is some truth to Ehrlich's tweet. From an economic perspective, Disney is approaching monopoly status in the movie industry. If you have studied economics at all, you would know monopolies are almost never good for consumers.

Yes, this is a massive weekend worth celebrating if you're a box office fan or a Marvel fan. There's also room for concern from people who love the industry or movies other than CBMs.

um the entire movie industry is a monopoly. Sony Pictures is owned by giant conglomerate Sony. WB is owned by AT&T. Etc. People are only hating on Disney because they are producing decent content and having success. WB could have been 2x bigger than Disney with Harry Potter, DC, LOTR etc. No one is to blame for their failure.

So HBO’s not even allowed to promote their biggest episode ever because of Endgame? I don’t know what point you’re making

WB knew exactly what they were doing when they decided on the GOT release date. They wanted their biggest episode to clash with End Game. Jokes on them. Nothing is stopping the Marvel train.

honest question - why are you at at box office forum? all these movies make money for giant corps whether its AT&T or Comcast. Get over it.

He likes pretending to be an intellectual female, only praising indie movie trash, even though he spent years on a music forum ATRL mocking people for mental illnesseses.

So even it’s True Friday (96.7m) would still rank as the 5th best OD. I’m absolutely baffled. What’s the outlook for Saturday? Is it possible Sunday stays above 100m as well?

The floor for Saturday is 110m.

I think you're overestimating how much people try to intentionally spoil stuff to people. And if they do get spoiled, unless they don't like what they hear, they're probably still gonna go to the movie anyway.

Well it’s still a possibility. We will have to wait and see.

I honestly think this will happen. Could beat TFA's 2nd weekend drop. JW also dropped sub 50% despite Inside Out doing 90 million that same weekend.

Do you think the average movie goer that didn’t go this weekend will care to watch it when they get spoiled on Monday?

A lot of people are rushing to avoid spoilers. Don’t know if there will be as much demand next weekend
