It's because those initial reactions and reviews come from people selected by the studio to attend the premieres and early screenings, people more likely to be positive. This isn't anywhere close to that but the most extreme example was WW84, which went from like 80s to 50s in a few weeks.
WW84 is an example of the opposite, at least on RT, it was the bloggers who caused the score to drop a lot. Check the top critics.

Every week there are some people here trying to convince us how impressive Black Adam's drops did (with the excuse that it's better than expected lol), who would have thought that the rock stans would be hanging around this forum, and ofc the payoled Deadline articles too.
This movie had THREE weeks with ZERO competition, there is literal no excuses, the $200M movie with huge promotion is bombing locally and globally, move on. Saying this is not "trolling", it's just facts.
Celebrating a drop this week over an anime movie that the general public haven't heard of, ridiculous lol. There hasn't been another BLOCKBUSTER to see for 3 weeks, Dwayne's blockbuster has all the cinemas to himself for the 3rd week in a row and it's still flopping.- 1

ZSJL being above Aquaman on RT just proves hot useless RT is as a resource. lmao
Y'all know this is a movie called BLACK ADAM, right? Starring THE ROCK?
Anything above 70% would've been astonishing. I'd say if this stays above 40%, it will be more than entertaining enough for me/general audiences. (MOM has over 70% and... yikes)
Aquaman has 412 reviews (65%), the other awful movie has 306 reviews (71%). Context matters, there is almost no difference considering the number of reviews.

I can't bump my comment because that certain mod keeps deleting my posts and giving WP.
But I can't believe there were some people in the last pages (before the reviews) still predicting +60% and 70%. Some of you didn't see the reactions? LOL, I didn't know there were many delulus fans of the rock, no wonder they're saying those box office estimates are great. It will struggle to reach 50% on RT as expected.

Cant wait for the meltdown of a certain afwul "actor" in the upcoming days. I can't post it in his movie thread because there is a mod who deletes every comments with any criticism Lol

The Batman is officially Warner's best-received movie this year, but this and mediocre Elvis are the ones being pushed for the Oscars (TB is better than Dune too, the latter being the one who took its original October release date). Tragic.

Judging those little teasers to judge a movie is like stupid to me. But Nolan has spoiled us, and if we're going to make teaser comparisons this is his worst yet, at least it's worse than the Tenet one, but this means nothing in the end.
I hope Warner doesn't think ever of moving Barbie's date, because things seem to indicate that they will have the last laugh.

Not the nolanites saying Dunkirk is a horror film in that nolan forum 😂
It's not 2018 anymore for this kind of delusion

The meltdowns when this flops will be amazing

The amount of bad reviews with huge score, truly shameless. If this wasn't Marvel, it would have been rotten by now.
-
The way people forget about the new Bong coming next year Lol. But it's better this way.
I wouldn't be surprised if Nolan flops, and new Bong beats Dune.
PS. glad old white people are failing to make such a mediocrity (elvis) relevant.

Same grade as Hereditary.
I think we know by now that general audiences aren’t loving the A24 horror. Yet they’ll find their audience later.
Hereditary and Midsommar are two of the best regarded horror films online for the past 10 years. See Letterboxd. They’re both still top 10 there this week.
The Lighthouse is better regarded than Hereditary and Midsommar, especially Midsommar.. If you are counting Letterboxd and Imdb.
It's just that A24 missed the mark by not giving it a wide release, when it was better received than The Witch i.e.But word of mouth helped TL a lot with streaming, and it already has almost the same number of ratings as both.

Besides the whole clip being terrible, he looks bad. I shouldn't have taken those screening reactions seriously.
Let's see if there is little competition this year that can allow WB campaign machine to achieve something.

All those fanboy tweets don't need a different post.

Terrible trailer, terrible actor. The cinematography is bad. This won't make much noise.
Now hoping for Elvis to flop.

I read on twitter if you make your research you gonna find there were a lot of POC people at the time but whites delete their traces in history as always. I read it on an verified account with 5K followers, must be true. You always learn something.
It's true.

This is going to flop. And if it happens, it would be a predictable flop.

My post getting deleted. lol so dumb

Lmao the people who really want to get us hyped, like some kind of event film, about a sequel to a mediocre '80s movie (and I'm being easy here, because the original is actually TERRIBLE).
Good luck.

So BvS drop is safe I guess. I know that it's not comparable, due to the huge opening day of the first one.
It's not doing terrible. I doubt Sony will lose any sleep over that.

Jeffrey Wright was very good and extremely likable as Gordon imo. Very worthy successor to Gary Oldman. I have no clue who these people are that are hating on him or why they do that but they must have sad lives.
Just sn*d*r cultists trying to spread lies.
The member who posted that tweet forgot to mention he wasn't being victim of any cancellation, same person made a tweet saying that Pattinson said the n-word. It's just them hating the movie and harassing the actors, they continue to dropping the bar when you think it's not possible anymore-
That cult are aberrations, repugnant, toxic awful sh!tty people. And a hypocritical admin coming to accuse us of "harassment" isn't going to stop me from saying this. Read the room.

Nah, he's mediocre and fortunately he has been losing his overratness ass. Hopefully basic academy members don't fall for this bait, but that's too much to ask.
OT: those fans thinking that batman will put a dune next year, when they see the whole Warner's machine campaigning for this movie instead Lol

The big difference between MC and RT scores. What would Marvel be without its bloggers inflating the movies... LOL
