Missing a potential $10M in Russia definitely hurts. Add that plus China and Japan if they debuted same time as everyone else and we would have been looking at $135M+

82
38.1
22.8
10.6
Would be past $200M by end of 4th weekend.

$2.7M Studio Reporting for Dune Part II
Just over 2x Part 1's OW. Beautiful

At first I was a little meh on that OS opening, but if you just include the totals for the markets it opened in this wknd (plus no Russia), Part 2 did about 45% of Part 1's total run OS ($220m or so).
Seems solid enough. $340M from these markets, plus China (I'm going $60M+, presales still moving quite nice), Japan ($10-12M) and Middle East markets yet to open b/c of Ramadan, then $400M+ OS seems certain.

Let's see how strong Sunday's going to be. It's sunny and warm today all over Poland which might have an impact on the box office, especially the walk-in business. However, a lot of tickets have been already sold for today.
Keeps going up up up. Love to see it. Go Poland

I mean the final scene has Only I will Remain playing and then it keeps going through the credits.
Ok I'm staying for the credits this time lol. I need that

Only I will remain plays at the end.
Did it really? I must have been so locked in I didn't realize lmao. Or do you mean at the end of the credits?

So Timothee is the lead in the two biggest films since last summer. Pretty crazy moment for him.

My local theatre- Tuesday IMAX (408 seats)
2:45 pm- 55% full
6:30 pm- 87% full
10:15 pm- 59% full (I have center seat, best row for this showing)
Monday is a bit lower. Both Wednesday and Thursday 6:30 pm shows already quite dang full at 72%.
I imagine by the time each show rolls around, it's just full.

One of three gripes I have is the fact that "Only I Will Remain" from the OST doesn't play during the film.
I would have ascended if I heard that back half of it during the movie. Guess I'm gonna stay for the whole credits just to hear it on that IMAX sound next time I see it.

This is so dumb but I laugh at dumb shit

Yes I saw it Thursday and have booked 3 more showings with various friends/family at each of them. Each of whom I had to convince to watch Part 1 and are now eager to see Part 2.
It's gonna take all of us being annoying to friends and fam to do this!

Quite shocking to me that UK isn't no1 for markets excluding USA. France and Germany being ahead is quite surprising to me.
UK just opened Fri so it's 1 days worth of box office while France is 3 days and Germany 2 so far. After today UK will be sitting past $8M.
-
Pretty confused by these UK numbers. Should be higher. Dune was very well received and crushed it on Home Video there.
-
Off a $20.75 true Fri, I want to believe in a $27M Saturday. But $26M seems more likely. Solid either way.

Well here we go, begin the ridiculous doom stage once again.

Spoiler
During Part 2 Chani literally said the lines of the opening of Dune Part 1 in this film "Arrakis is so beautiful when the sun is low". So does that mean that whole opening sequence of Part 1 was part of one of Paul's dreams?
Lady Margot putting Feyd through the box of pain test was an awesome parallel to Paul's test. How Denis left the Gom Jabbar until the final frame in the scene was so sick.

Super solid CS, considering is not exactly a light fun movie.
I’m confident in at least 200M DOM, even with 75M OW.
First movie had a 2.64x despite day-and-date. Of course this is a sequel, but i expect similar or slightly better legs simply because this time it’s theatrical only while Dune 1 legs was hurted.
Also there really does seem to be a very considerable demand for PLF's (more than Part 1 IMO) which might help bolster weeks 1-3. With an $80M wknd, I could see $170M+ by end of week 3.

Also...
SpoilerI was gutted to not hear the OST track "Only I Will Remain" in the film. That back half of the track is literally ascending. I fully thought it would be the closing track to the movie. It probably played during the credits but I forgot to stay.
Also, just seeing the pace of Chinese presales, I'm gonna be delusional and believe in a $30M+ OW there. Japan also I think $3.5M+.

Let's talk about the Oscar chances. Actors imo, especially with such a very early release, are out of any possibility, if not for Butler (but very very hard to him too).
The difference from the first this time should be more possibilities for Villenueve and a director nod.
It's a shame because tbh Timothee, Zendaya, Javier, Austin and Rebecca all put in work.

There's no way that it's as good as the hype says, right? One of my friends got sick and we postponed our tickets to next Friday. I'm edging to see if it's as good as everyone proclaims it to be.
It really is, man.

Yeah OS looks more likely to finish in the $400-450M range.
