The average went down artificially because I didn't track GxK's last week and missed today's update for Madame Web, all comps actually went up except for Indy which stayed steady! I think Fall Guy is the best comp here because of the very similar EA situation

    0.71x MI7 EA: $1.42 Million (17 theaters)

    Average: $1.13 Million

I do not think I will be able to give a T-1 hour for the EA tomorrow, so I am planting my flag at around $1.25 Million. In terms of screenings it is very similar to Fall Guy; Ungentlemanly did not have PLF, so ATP was a lot lower, and Mean Girls had considerably less screenings.

Despite EA continuing to draw sales, Thursday actually keeps rising against comps. I would not be surprised to see the average end up over 4. Good stuff!

I do that in my initial set up. So I have a row for each show that has theater, time, total seats, unavailable seats, and then columns for each day.  Then on the app I just count everything greyed out and subtract out the unavailable.  I've been doing it long enough that I can spot them in most of the auditoriums 😅

Haha same, at this point I know most of the rooms and how many seats they have just by looking at the layout... but thanks for the info!

Pretty good day, for both the EA and Thursday previews. Comps are a bit all over the place but I would probably put the EA at around $750-850k. I believe I will be able to give a T-1 hour update tomorrow so I'll wait on a final prediction until then, but for now I will just say this is a promising update after a disappointing final week!

I don't have as many T-1 hour comps so this looks worse than it actually was, all the comps would have gone up if I had them in my previous post. Thinking about these, my post yesterday, and the pace, I will go with a final prediction of: $2.3 Million Thursday (+/- 0.2), ~$750-850k EA). So maybe a reported total number around $3.1 Million

I highly recommend using the Fandango app once you've set your sheet up.  I only use the site for getting the seat counts of new shows now and for shows with a ton of sales. So much easier to scroll through seating charts that way.

I've also noticed that if you open a show in a new tab - don't go to the new tab until the seating chart loads.  That's worked every time I start hitting the errors.

    Hope this helps!

With bigger releases, I end up using the “inspect element” quite a bit and searching for keywords like “unavailable”, are you able to do that with the app at all?

Regardless, really helpful advice, thank you :)

Also long time readers of my post might note that this took an insane length of time for so few showings.  Roughly twice or twice-and-a-half long as it "should" have had, thanks to Fandango throwing up "Not Found" after "Not Found" after "Not found" error on me in what I have to presume is an anti-flood control measure.

It's been a loooooong time since Fandango has been this crabby for me and if I can't figure out a way to regularly bypass the flood control (usually I can get by it by making sure my requests aren't quite so rapid fire so I'll see if I can bypass triggering in the first place as it seems once it has flipped, Fandango gets Xtra Froggy on me) I'm either gonna have to severely cut back on my reporting (likely dropping Q&Ds altogether) or figure out how to get MTC3's corp site to "play nice" with tracking.  MTC2 I can deal with, if have to grumble with its... eccentricities.  My Local MiniMTC keeps changing its site, but I should be able to make that one "play nice".  But, as always, MTC3 is a GIGANTIC PITA to deal with and I'd just as soon have a root canal than have to check it for 100+ showtimes every night.

Coz, gonna tell ya all, I ain't looking forward to the above sort of shit I just went through on a 250+ showtime track at T-0.

Fandango has been so damn annoying lately it’s real frustrating

Doesn't that just make the fact Fall Guy has less ticket sales but more screenings sound even worse?

Not really, because what was stated was that the comparison was in “comparable theaters” which I am assuming means like-for-like.

I think it would actually have the opposite effect. If on the Monday of its EA you wanted to watch Challengers in the twin cities metro, you had to go to the one theater showing it. If you wanted to watch Fall Guy tonight, you had over a dozen options. If I just compare the one theater, Challengers actually beat the fall guy there if I look at the T-1 hour updates; if I compared the metro area ticket sales, Fall Guy had triple the sales.

Anyway, more broadly, for these EA grosses, number of screenings is a much more important variable than it would be in a normal Thursday preview

Fall Guy did like half of Civil War in ticket sales for EA at comparable theaters in my area.

    Lowering my prediction to 20-22M.

I do think Civil War EA was very limited in screenings though (in Minne, for example, only 1 of 25 theaters I track had EA, versus 19 for Fall Guy), so perhaps not the best comparison here

Was super busy Day 1 of release so I wasn't able to get to this, but this seems like it'll be like Trolls where EA syphons off all the early sales, so I'll for sure keep them separate here.

    Thursday Comps:*

    0.15x Wonka: $520k

    0.26x Wish: $460k

    1.25x Trolls: $1.63 Million

*Very low sales will lead to big variance in these early days. Trolls is the most useful comp due to similar EA situations.

    EA Comps:

0.6x Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes EA: ??

    0.91x Fall Guy EA: ??

    0.16x Dune Part 2 EA: $325k

Again, Trolls EA will be the most useful here but the first comp for it will be at T-16.

    Gotta love EA :)

Again, Trolls EA will be the most useful here but the first comp for it will be at T-16.
