At one point ... not seriously
I expected 40M+ 50M+

This. But, of course, geeks defend everyone who makes pretentious pretty movies (this, Prometheus) and trash everyone who makes pretty movies without pretense that stupid shit is stupid shit (Bay).
I love Tony Scott, Dominic Sena, Antoine Fuqua movies, those pretty movies without pretense. Bay movies are dull and overwrought with close-up shakey cam. Bay has a great way of lighting a set but his editing style is too punishing for my senses. If you don't get a headache after TRANSFORMERS movies, maybe you could join the Air Force. Paul Greengrass with his Bourne movies has similar aggressive editing style but his camera angles & setups are more inventive than Bay. But seriously, I wish filmmakers would use steadicam more often and understand the benefit of master shots.

You see how BOURNE LEGACY performed? Nobody came. Damon is Jason Bourne. Renner is great when he is part of a supporting cast (MI4, SWAT, THE TOWN). They would like to turn this into a Bond franchise. But Bond is a lifestyle statement that has evolved into a brand, not tied to a star/actor. That's why it can last.( Although the Craig version of the series is very different in tone with past Bond). Bourne is a personal story. The makers of the series had created a very satisfying arc for Damon. His story is done. The Bourne character is not an established brand like Superman or Iron Man which can be interpreted & re-interpreted by different actors. 007 has that 60s jingle, the gadgets etc. IRON MAN has that hi-tech stuff and the comic book following. SUPERMAN defies gravity, shoots laser from his eyes, and is a God to many readers. Bourne is a multi-dimensional human character in a complex world. He is not an artifice. You cannot franchise Bourne. But I wish they explore Ludlum's other works. I love realistic spy movies like Bourne & the Jack Ryan series.I read an interview with Fogelson a couple of months back and my impression was that he isn't sure if Damon will be back. He spend a lot of time taking about expanded Bourne universe and the new directions that they can take the story to.

GIJ2: not expecting any good legs to begin with
-
OBLIVION has AVATAR-like plot. Plus the love story may appeal to teens. This could be a surprise in China
-
I really wish this would do closer to $50 million in China
-
$61 million opening. 2nd weekend numbers will tell its fate.

The general feedback is that the movie has a lot of positive points for mild recommendations. Things that stood out: the visuals, story & Tom Cruise. And yes, people seem to love Andrea more than Olga. But the studios know that this story-driven movie cannot compete with the juggernauts like IRON MAN 3 & MAN OF STEEL, plus May is fully booked by the Leo, Wolfpack & Diesel Gang. Will Smith has a scifi, Jason Bourne stars in a similar story in ELYSIUM. This summer is insane! Good move by Universal to move it out of the competition.

Actually no, Spain, France and Mexico aren't breaking out, but those figures are fine. The only disappointment so far is Korea, TC normally delivers there. Russia and the UK made up for it however. The OZ number is a bit low as well, but maybe it can produce decent legs.
Should do well in Japan

OLYMPUS did $80 million by end of weekend. This thing is the new Energizer bunny, no? About 30% drop.

OBLIVION flops in France? This a fact?
If yes, this doesn't sound too good for
the rest of Europe

GIJ2 flopped in FR and UK.
All the main bad guys in GI JOE movies are British. I am sure the British did not like to see themselves as comic-book villains. They want to see themselves as James Bond, sexy, virile, lethal.
-
But it is a Wednesday right? Should be higher closer to weekend?
-
It will do PROMETHEUS like numbers. Very strong possibility. The visuals & special effects are impressive enough.

Thanks Bluebomb!

I think by now they should have known that by creating a big news over censorship of a major movie also creates the Forbidden Apple syndrome: now every young people in China wants to see DJANGO. But Hollywood may get pinched in the process (i.e.: pirated copies)

I kinda enjoyed it. I may go for 2nd viewing. The visuals are just amazing on IMAX
-
CROODS Australian number should be higher.
