Ah yes, I remember that connection, not sure at all how it is relevant at all in the conversation ? Coppolla would be a cannibal serial murderer himself, why would it matter here ?

It doesnt matter to the conversation,i agree. What i'm saying is,  i cant't blame anyone for discounting anything he says, regardless of the validity. Thats how society has always treated heinous people and those who support them. It is what it is.

It's really funny that crazy cbm fanatics and sjws are so desperate to shit on Coppola and Scorsese and defend Disney they use this stupid argument that has nothing to do with the topic/quality of movies/real cinema or not.

    Indeed.

I mean, yeah he may have a point about Marvel but when you continuously voice support for and financially back someone who fucked a 12 yr old boy, i think its fair game to call you a piece of shit everytime you open your mouth in public to say anything.

  3. This conversation is a funny to me. Liu is not worse looking than Holland, Boseman, Pratt and certainly not Cumberbatch. And none of those dudes are hurting for female attention.

And even if we're going by global asian action stars, its not like young Jackie, Jet li, Donnie Yen, Chow Yun Fat etc were Calvin Klein models

I don't know wtf kinda 'standards' we're talking about here.

  4. These numbers are mind boggling to me. I was one of those who didnt think 300M OW was logistically possible. Shows what i know.

So for the posters on here who are obviosuly much smarter than me. What are we looking at here in terms of the floor for this thing.? How much could it possibly make when its all said and done looking at the number we have thus far?

Maybe, just maybe, she didn’t want to direct a Black Panther film, and wanted to direct this instead?

Nah she said she wanted to do it initially, was excited at the the prospect and was close to accepting it, and then changed her mind later. And of course she could have had a change of heart, but i'm just saying she's probably looking back at that from a different perspective today.

  6. Man i wonder how Ava now feels about turning down that Black Panther gig. She said no to them on the basis that she would not be able to put her personal stamp on it, and then Marvel turns around and gives the film to the dude she considers her little brother. And he proceeds to make a film that crushes it out of the park, breaks all kinds of box office records, and becomes a cultural touchstone that's probably going to win a bunch of awards and be remembered for a long time. And he did all this while working across the hall from her in the Disney building.

I'm sure she's happy for him and all, but thats gotta sting a little.

Looks like this is the 2017 CBM slate:

March 3: Untitled Wolverine sequel (Fox)
March 31: Ghost In The Shell (Paramount)
May 5: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2......#1
    June 2: Wonder Woman
June 16: Kingsman: The Golden Circle (Fox)
July 7: Spider-Man: Homecoming (Sony release, Marvel Studios-produced)......#3
October 6: Untitled Fox Marvel film (Fox) (...which one is this?)
    November 3: Thor: Ragnarok
    November 17: Justice League........#2
    Unscheduled 2017: Bloodshot (Valiant/Sony)

JL surely has a shot at #1.

If Wonder Woman is universally acclaimed, i think it could win the year. Its very obvious there's a great upfront demand for these DC characters when you look at their OW numbers and they have the best marketing squad in the business. If only they wouldnt keep fucking up the actual films

  8. The thought that any movie "should" open to 200+ mill is ludicrous. 3 movies have done it ever and it its entirely possible that no other movie save for Star Wars will touch that mark again in the near future. The fact that some fans and so called 'analysts' got carried away with their predictions doesnt mean a freaking 400/1.2 bill box office is anything less than great

I think reasonable expectations for SS and DS will be between 160-175 million.

I think Suicide Squad has a real opportunity to blow the doors open if its as entertaining as the trailers make it look. It has recognizable stars, iconic characters and the marketing has been on point. The only thing that could kill it at this point would be bad reviews

CA, Iron Man, Spiderkid, 80% of the Avengers, Black Panther, 90% RT - all in one movie, 45M above BvS.
    That's my perspective.

if a movie makes 400 mill and 1.2 bill give or take and you're complaining then you probably need to reduce your expectations. The MCU has a core base right now and all these big team up movies are probably going to range between 1-1.3 bill going forward. Its the Harry Potter effect.
