Sorry, but CW Dom is not doing "phenomenally well"

Who would've thought this movie will struggle to break 400M Dom??

With all its hype / amazing reviews / cinmescore CW till now made only 45M more than BvS
Yes, WW it passed in by 200M, but I doubt it will reach 1.2B while almost everyone were sure it will at least peak at 1.4B.

you are in need of perspective man. for real

Age of Ultron was a 1,4BWW  disapointment.

And Civil could end up being the number 2 movie dom & WW, doing close to 1,2B WW and reading people here, I would say nobody show up to see the movie.

    Perspective, it s funny.

Marvels success has made them boring so some people around these parts. The only exciting thing they can do at this point is fail spectracularly, or pull off some Force Awakens type box office run, and frankly neither of those things is happening anytime soon. So painting great numbers as 'somewhat disappointing' is the next best thing. lol

These things go in cycles. DC ruled the 80s, 90s and 00s. The 10s belong to Marvel.

The pendulum will swing the other direction eventually.

DC will have to settle for winning comics, video games and television for now.

Thats very debateable. Daredevil and Jessica Jones are crushing it on Netflix.  Luke Cage is coming as well. And its just weird to say that DC is 'winning' comics when both companies have a bunch of critically acclaimed titles right now.  Ms Marvel, Vision, Thor, Darth Vader series are all very highly praised title. and i'm pretty sure Marvel is dominating the comic sales right now and Ta-Nehisi Coates Black Panther is the best selling comic of the year thus far

Quality film making and his command of a scene and the fact that what he can do is rare and most directors cannot do what he does.  He tells a story with his camera better than just about anyone.  IMO

I maintain that no one can craft a large scale action scene quite like Bay. That i'll give him, but man his storytelling flaws are too large to ignore and seeing as storytelling is a core foundation of filmaking i can't possibly put him in the upper echeleon of working directors.

  5. Marvel fired Edgar Wright and got all kinds of shit for not giving directors enough artistic license. DC says 'hey e're going to be filmaker-driven and let our artists express themselves'. They are two movies in and they've already fired Michelle Maclaren (who has a damn fine resume) and this guy Smith over 'creative differences'.

we should let go of the idea of any director having any kind of real freedom when it comes to these gigantic tentpoles. These studios are no different tbh. this is why you should appreciate stuff like Mad Max Fury Road. stuff like that won't happen often

Some people refuse to acknowledge that DC and WB allows the multiverse concept and a different interpretation of DC heroes is not a blasphemy especially when it comes to superman. Superman has killed dozens times before and he has been in dark comics before. Legitimate criticism like they didn't the story or didn't like the editing or pacing or overuse of characters is legitimate criticism but when you say I will review this badly because superman in this universe is not the one I like or batman etc that's not legitimate criticism, that is just you saying you are unwilling to see different perspective of superheroes outside of donnerverse and many comics when DC themselves have provided different perspectives and there was no negative outrage which just shows many have their ideas about superman built on moving images rather than flipping pages

At the same time, its not necessarily a bad thing to portray the heroes in the iteration that has resonated with audiences the most throughout the decades. There are versions of Captain America where he's a sanctimonious insufferable prick, and there's a version of the Hulk where he's a cannibal (i shit u not) but that doesnt mean you should adapt those versions when you're making a movie for a global audience. People love Superman because he's a joyous inspirational figure. Is it wrong to depict him as such especially in our current times where we could us some light and hope?

Good. Hoping DC never turns Marvelous. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

But Flash is not a grimdark character. Cyborg isn't either. People act live Marvel and DC characters are so categorically different from each other and it couldnt be farther from the truth. They both share the same writers who bring similar sensibilities to the characters they write. Flash needs to be a fun, upbeat guy,  very similar in tone to something like Spiderman 2. There's literally no reason to darken his world. That would ironically lead to one of the (misguided) complaints about the MCU, that all their movies are/feel the same
