grim22
http://www.ew.com/article/2015/02/10/uncle-buck-tv-reboot-have-all-black-cast?asdf ABC’s version of Uncle Buck is going to look a lot more Black-ish. EW has confirmed a Showbiz 411 report that the network’s sitcom reboot of the 1989 John Hughes film is seeking an all-black cast to play the family at the heart of the show. The creative twist on the original format could be a reaction to this season’s unmissable broadcast trend where shows with diverse casts are having a seismic impact on the Nielsen ratings (like Fox’s Empire, ABC’s How to Get Away with Murder and ABC’s own Black-ish). The original film starred John Candy as an irresponsible oaf who becomes the unlikely babysitter for his suburban brother’s kids. There was also a short-lived TV series on CBS in 1990. The new Buck Russell is described as “a wild and free-wheeling force of nature who has managed to lose every job and every girlfriend he’s ever had, but who still flies through life by the seat of his pants, never knowing what tomorrow will bring.” So who should play the lead? One name that might work: Damon Wayans Jr. is leaving Fox’s New Girl (again) and, we hear, just passed on joining another TV show based on a film – CBS’ Rush Hour pilot.Uncle Buck is likewise still in the pilot stage so the project might not make it to air regardless of who is cast.
