Okay, it's not awful like people are saying it to be. There's decent emotion in it, and the actual un-marketed story (being about a boy having to befriend a middle-aged Japanese man during WWII, believing it'll bring his dad back home) is surprisingly well-done, and the six main actors (the family of four and then the Japanese man and Wilkinson) all do pretty well, even though the kid is off at points. That said, the ending is really, really mishandled, and there are moments where the ambition is way way bigger than the execution. I guess it was okay, if a bit forgettable. C

 

Kevin James was hysterical though.
