Edited in light of JW gossip.
Edited again in light of non terrible RT score.
Final edit after seeing the movie. Which is terrible.

Yeah...but...did we predict that GOTG was going to open at $94M OW? Not really.
But you're right. Because of its OW and WOM, it got to $333M DOM.
But even with that....I don't think Marvel tries to...appeal their movies to just.....fanboys. They are trying to bring in GA as well.
So I think the highest it could go is $175 DOM.
But.....let's remember, it depends on WOM. WOM is always important when it comes to movies like these. You can't assume that it's fanboy hype will not bode well for Ant-Man when we clearly don't know exactly how it will turn out.
So why were you complaining about my bias against the film when you are predicting a max only 25m higher?

Really hoping actuals go up.
-
Yup, Mad Max had people go for the reviews even if the marketing didn't appeal to them. This should be the same.
I am one of those people. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?!

Pixar trailers have never been very good to be honest. I don't like any of the IO trailers (they're all too... funny) but with the comments by everybody so far it's clearly going to be great.
-
She's supposedly in it for like one scene.

Hey...I'm basing it off on the marketing & brand name, and what people will think about it when they see it...not my wishes of it flopping like you two.
Don't think you know better than anyone else here.
I'm basing my projection off the trailer. It's a superhero who turns into a two inch tall person to get strong. It's dumb. It'll bomb.
-
Again...it's only your opinion.
Just saying.
I mean I have no problem admitting that...?
-
By "lucky", do you mean you don't want it to do big business?
I don't care how it does, I just think it'll bomb.
-
Antman will make 150m if it's lucky.

I effing despise the minions.
-
Pretty excited for this. Trailer had more explosions than Transformers!
-
I'll take it. I wonder how much current markets and Japan will do. 400m is far away but if Japan does well maybe like 375-380 or something.
-
I'm just butthurt because they're excited for large CGI dinosaurs but when prompted about the best movie of the year with 98% on RT they're like "wuts dat" and "looks dum"

Yeah, everyone on Facebook is weirdly pumped for JW.
-
I don't get it. Thread title says "Ridley Scott } Matt Damon" - are the other actors disposable? I'd consider Jessica Chastain more interesting. Don't tell me they all die a few minutes in

I had trouble thinking of the correct word. Deficit under? Deficit of 1m under? IDK. But 8.5 was the goal.
-
They always are, but now we're at like a 1m deficit for the bare minimum of a successful weekend. Oh well
-
Ugh, Deadline updated but with no numbers for the important movie.
Wait, it did, I lied. 3m-3.2m. That's shit. Estimated weekend 7-7.5m Yeah, great legs, guys.
-
Is Rth usually now or in an hour?
-
Man, I really didn't like SAN ANDREAS.
We already knew that all other movies this summer have been spoiled.
-
Let's hope the next Disney princess, Furiosa, makes at least 30m here.
