I recently watched Little Shop of Horrors, both the original released and the alternate ending, and it got me thinking about audiences ability to change the direction of films and whether they were better for it or worse.
For me, some of the changed endings that made the films worse would be the pre-mentioned Little Shop and Brazil, whereas other changes that were better would be Star Trek Generations.
Yours?

Pirates 4 added 3D. TF3 already had 3D.
Even if you removed the 3D surcharge from pirates 4, would the resulting gross be as much of a drop off from the previous film as TF4 will eventually be to TF3.

It's kind of amazing how you say "true", but then as you continue it's clear you don't understand the post you were quoting.
The "true" part was stating that pirates suffered a drop despite being in 3D compared to its 2D predecessor.
The correction was that TF4 is set to have a much bigger drop from TF3, so the fact that pirates 4 was in 3D doesn't make the drop from its predecessor more drastic if the drop in dollar amounts is much more drastic.

Not really. TF3 had 3D while Pirates 3 did not.
True, but Pirates 4 dropped only 68M from the previous installment, not the 100M+ that projections show for TF4

Not Bad, not good. Just okay.

1/4* out of *****
Easily Emmerich's worst and most incompetently executed film.
The drastic assassination of historical events and flabbergasting geographical transitions were as distractingly bad as anything I've ever seen.
-
Thus far, the peak of an overall terrible career.
-
Another thought - would the TF franchise have been better if it had been J.J. Abrams directing? Even with Shia and Megan in the leads, and Kurtzman and Orci writing?
Yes, while Abrahms is not my favorite director, he'd easily produce a more competent film than the low-grade Roland Emmerich ever did.

If we had Transformers with real characters, plus human support from, say, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jennifer Lawrence and Idris Elba, these movies might not have fucking sucked.
Agreed. Michael Bay has always been terrible at writing characters who weren't horribly racist/sexist caricatures or just flat out annoying/worthless on their own accord.

This film just set two records for the franchise.
Biggest 2nd weekend drop AND weakest 2nd weekend gross
- 3
-
TF4 is set for a 36-37M three day 2nd weekend.
Dark of the Moon had a 47M+ second weekend, and that was without a 4th of July weekend to cushion its Sunday drop.
It's now at 87M behind the previous installment.
This series is falling off a cliff.

DUD.
A crap film by a backed-up toilet of a director.
-
Better than your typical Happy Madison film, but that's not saying much.

Not as good as the original, but still memorable and entertaining in its own right.
