Obviously these flops earlier in the year should have known about Barbenheimer reigniting movie theater interest, and moved their releases to August.

Any numbers on Mario previews yet? I noticed at my local theater it was actually true 12:01am showings. Blast from the past.

Anyone have any idea how long AWOW will hold onto 3D IMAX shows? Was going to see it this weekend but illness got in the way.
Mid February with Titanic and Ant Man will probably steal a good amount, if not most, showings. We'll have to wait and see if it gets showings back later in the run.

Tahoma, Calibri, Trebuchet, Roboto are top tier
Shout-out to the meme fonts like wingdings 3 and comic sans though. They have their place too.

I imagine there will be more draw to the premium format screens in general, at least for the rest of this year.

Trying to look at comps from last year to see effect of CFB championship game, and I realize there are too many Monday holidays in these months, it difficult to pull a trend.
But looking at Mondays last year, Jan 10 (CFB) and Jan 24, (Jan 17 being MLK), the drops look fairly similar between the days.
I don't know how much the popularity of CFB ebbs and flows year-to-year though, or if this year was a more popular game.

Who is more trustworthy XXR or Legion in Boots
Neither of them are even real names. Just some letters next to each other.

Wasn't really paying attention to the game until about 30min after the injury. It's been scary to watch everyone's reactions on replays and as they talk about new updates.

The evening has been.....rough.....for ATWOW. Perhaps other chains and Canada will over index again to pull it up but now we're thinking 17-18M for Saturday.
Wait the estimates are supposed to go *up* throughout the evening!

Is there a way to see how other movies (NWH, TFA, etc.) were tracking at this point during the day on new years eve to see what kind of drop in the estimate we might expect this evening?
Don't know much about the tracking side, so idk if that's even really possible with the data
-
My gut says TFA's 90m 3rd weekend will be harder to beat. Inflation can catch Endgame's record before that imo.
Unless some odd release schedule gets an expansion in the 3rd weekend that still allows it to be on the chart (don't remember what the specifics are)

maybe avatar is long enough people can warm up from the cold before having to go back outside.

53 pages in a daily thread and we don't even have an official Tuesday number.
Avatar not only will save cinemas, it's also reviving this forum. All hail Cameron!
Can confirm. Here to watch avatar run and the meltdowns either way it goes.

Saw it last night in a mostly empty theater. Wasn't 3D or any special screen, guessing that was a factor in the low attendance.
Going to see it again in Dolby 3D on Saturday, probably a much fuller theater.
Excited to watch the $$ over the next few weeks.

Went to go watch Endgame a 3rd time (First act becoming my favorite) help those Thursday numbers and come home to Peter Mayhew passing away.. very sad, this day extracts a heavy toll. RIP
Almost identical to my experience today. 3rd time seeing the movie, come out seeing news about Chewie.

There was room for Avatar and Sherlock back in 2009. I think Pika will survive, although it might be muted a bit the first weekend.
At least, I'll spend one of my A-List tickets on it one of those weekends, hopefully it'll get a weekend in Dolby.
-
Saw an ad for this today. Will probably spend one of the A-List tickets on it. Maybe it will be OK.
-
Will be interesting to see if this can hit $652 in December to top TFA's Dec gross.
-
lol just saw the release date delay. Will this ever be released?

Grabbed a Dolby ticket for GT on Sunday.
Was also looking at the screens for Oppie.. IMAX showings basically full (the theater near me gave GT the IMAX early morning and late evening time, and let Oppie keep the mid afternoon slots). These tix are usually like $20+ so not surprised.
