I agree. But what I would like to know is if that is possible for a movie spanning 4 films of such a massive scale. I just can't see it being like POTTER where almost everything happens at Hogwarts.

The biggest problem I see is that we've already had that climactic, "unite all the clans against a common enemy" style movie. It's hard to think of where they could go with these scripts that doesn't seem much less, well, important, than the original movie.

That's a much bigger drop than I expected. Theaters near me are already 80-90% full for showings through the rest of the night. (For Star Wars) I'm sure some will sell out by showtime. Gotta love discount Tuesday.

It's just 2 theaters... But hopefully it translates into a decent sized bump today. +30% ?

Do you know how showings are doing for other movies?

I do not now how others do it, but I have a lot of folders and sub-folders within my 'favorites'/bookmarks in my browser, I name the folders / sub-folders (like main folder BO or BOT => sub-folder BOT predictions???), favor/bookmark the post via right-click on the right-cornered arrow = bookmark this... and fill in/edit the description of the saved favorite/bookmark (like SW 7 final run prediction?)

Only 'problem' I sometimes have: I should get all the computers I work with more often on the same level for my bookmarks, again and again I use exact the computer that has not the needed bookmark on / in the bookmarklist

If you always use google chrome then you can sync your bookmarks on all your computers, as long as you have a google account.

@Baumer, this is actually something we admins can add to the forum software: in fact, we already have a running list. Any acronym that has a definition will have a little dashed line underneath, like this: TFA. JW. ROTPOTA. Mouse over the word and the full definition will pop up.

We've added a bunch of movies from recent years, but there hasn't been any rhyme or reason, so I'm sure there are plenty of gaps. So if people want to PM us anything that we haven't added yet, go for it.

I always just thought those lines were those ad-activated words you see on other sites... kept my mouse far away from them.

I'm using the exact daily drops for each movie.  The Monday to Thursday drops are reasonably close (as you have noted), but the Friday increase was way off; FOTR +198%, TTT +144%, and ROTK +118% compared to TFA +80%.  The LOTR movies increased well over 100% for the next few Fridays as well and that is why I'm doubtful that TFA will follow any of those movies.

I'm hoping to be wrong though and maybe TFA will surprise us and have more than a 100% increase this coming Friday.

I'm hoping the lower Friday jumps are just based on Thursday's volume. This coming weekend we should be down around $3m weekdays so >100% Friday jump is definitely doable.

Look back in the thread over 10 states affected but Avatar still hits near 80m. Then has the lowest drops of all time,  including a 2% drop from weekend to weekend.  Obviously if not for the huge storm,  most think those folks would have bought within the first 3 days noctis.

The 2nd weekend was Christmas weekend. Movies generally have a nice drop there. Even TFA with a 247m OW had <40% drop.

Was this third week drop to be expected?

Yes. School (elementary, middle, high) and work are back in session for a lot of US, leading to much lower weekdays.

ROTS, DH2, and TFA's late night/midnight and TA's OD evening are the most lively screenings I've ever been to by far. Those 4 are in their own category. TA's is particularly memorable since it wasn't a late night/midnight. Never seen any crowd reaction like that outside of that setting.

I think ROTS was the craziest for me. I still remember clear as day the crowd reactions to R2 fighting the buzz droids, or R2 burning the super battle droids, or Obi-Wan killing Grievous.
