A OT question in a way:

do we have here at BOT a thread... for Disney? Like they released a clip about the upcoming Star Wars attractions in Disneyland / World. Where to post something like that?

There's a Disney thread in the main forum, so you could probably post something like that there.

so accoding to the old list, with China and Russia aout of the way these are remaining?

    Not sure about the UK

I don't really understand the details about the UK either. They should still be part of Europe, but until I hear differently, I will keep them on the list of countries that haven't officially approved the deal yet.

Do you happen to know any dates for any of those countries? E.g. like 'papers... have to be in till latest... like they did it in the EU?

there were some remarks in the net about the thing being over maybe a bit earlier than expected. Expectations seem to be ~ (early?) summer 2019

I wish I did, but I don't. I can't find any information on those countries. For all I know, some of them may have approved the merger already, but haven't officially announced it yet. I know China is rumored to be very close to approving the deal.

    I did a fast glance:

Fox - Disney shareholders approved already in ~ July.

in the US they have to give up / split from 22 regional FOX sport channels and the Murdochs will form a new Fox company out of

    also Fox Soccer Plus

That one will start at 1st January 2019

At the end of July 2018 there were still at least 15 countries / regions open, China, Russia, India, Brazil, and the EU among them:

India approved at 12 August 2018

In the EU the approval was reported as of 6 November,

China seemingly approved too, no details found.

Brazil has to approve the dissolve of the Fox's channels or so

The remaining countries I am not sure about, the biggest one seems to be Russia = I didn't found any report about an approval so that one at least seems to be still open.

Any other detail known about to give up this or that for region ....?

    List of countries still open?

As the stock on Sky gets sold by FOX, not sure who gets the money for that to which %. The other sales where more formulated like has to be sold by Disney or so.

There are 9 countries that have not approved the deal yet. They are:

    China

    Russia

    Brazil

    South Korea

    Mexico

    Israel

    Japan

    United Kingdom

    Australia

  5. The EU concession is so ridiculous. The EU is that worried that Disney would have a monopoly on "fact-based" television stations? Lifetime is a "fact-based" televisions station now? Honestly, it's not a big concession, but it does seem like a petty with for the EU to ask for a concession on. Owning National Geographic and the History Channel together does not give Disney a monopoly on the facts. However, a few less cable stations in Europe isn't going to hurt Disney much at all.

I think his point was being fan of any big corporation, whether dominant or not. Also it is very easy not to be disney fan. You just have to look past entertainment.

I was really speaking more to why people are Disney fans. I could think of many reason why people would not be Disney fans, and I think all those reasons are valid and perfectly acceptable.

You can be fan of filmmakers, type of movies you want to see more of them made and with more ressource.

Box office inform the allocation of resource of the next slate you can be fan of the next slate being more X than Y, thus rooting for different box office result without involving studios in the equations. And that impact to the  future slate has impact to us audiences.

Must be more fun, if you are fan of studios and hate some studios, rooting more for a side.

I am not sure that people that follow tv rating, books or music sales would care has much if the album is Sony or from an other bunch even know the studio that produce the TV show.

While people that follow car sales, it must be all about the manufacturer....

I really don't follow car sales. I couldn't care less what the most popular car is. I know people who are really into cars, but none would post on a car sales forum.

I don't get people who are fans of the Disney Studio. It likes being a fan of Standard Oil, or Citibank,or any other gigantic corporation.

I don’t see why people care about box office if they’re not fans of a studio or studios. Box office doesnt measure quality of a film. It is only important to studios. I dont see how following box office can be fun without being a fan of a studio or studios.

If I misunderstood you, and you dont mean studios, but rather Disney in general, the answer is pretty simple: Disney wasnt the big dominant studio until a few years ago (around the time they bought Lucasfilm) so people were already Disney fans. No one is going to stop being a Disney fan just because they became successful and dominant. They make the movies that people want to see so it is hard not to be a Disney fan.

  11. If Disney's deal to purchase Fox is completed, Fox will no longer be independent. Therefore, their movies will be listed under Disney. That means that Deadpool could very well be the last independent Fox movie to make it onto this list. Currently, Fox has 20 movies on the list. That's more movies on the list than MGM (9), UA (8), and RKO (1) combined. The oldest Fox movie in the top 200 is The Robe from 1953. The highest Fox movie on the list is Star Wars at number 2. That is followed by The Sound of Music at number 3. That is followed by Titanic at number 5. Fox has clearly made some of the most popular movies of all-time.
