I remember when Neo kept telling me after Furious 7 that FF8 would increase even further domestically. I kept saying that Furious 7 was the highest the FF series would go domestically. I wish he was here so I could remind him that I was right.

Fast and Furious has increased with each subsequent film since the rebooted 4th film. They likely won't increase on this one due to no tragedy to center around, but anyone who thinks Transformers is doing better at this point domestically than Fast and Furious, not sure what to say to that. One of them keeps declining dramatically and the other one has increased steadily.
Except Transformers started out much higher than the most successful Fast film which is Furious 7. Transformers films, as they decreased, still grossed more domestically (adjusted for inflation) than Furious 7. In fact, only the last Transformers film did not do great domestically. Your whole argument that Transformers should be more like Fast is based on one film... the last film. Fast 8 may not even do better than the next Transformers film. Bay should not want to copy from the Fast films when his franchise has been more successful.

Just from a numbers perspective, Transformers should not want to be like the Fast and the Furious franchise. Transformers has 3 films (I think there have only been four total) that are among the top 200 domestic adjusted films of all time. Fast and the Furious has one (Furious 7) out of seven films among the top 200 domestic adjusted films of all time. Whatever Transformers is doing domestically, it is doing it much better than The Fast and the Furious films.

wtf Apocalypto is not a silent movie.
Subtitled. It's the same thing. You're reading subtitles, unless you actually speak that language.

I'm at 70 that I have ranked, and I've seen a few others a long time ago and wouldn't know where to rank them now.
I have never actually seen a silent film, to me sound seems like such a crucial part of a film that a silent film would simply be inferior, and with so many good films to see I don't feel the need to see any.
Mel Gibson directed a silent film called Apocalypto that was surprisingly good, despite being silent. However, other than that, I have never been able to enjoy silent films. I tried with the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse because it was on this list, made Rudolph Valentino a star and had the famous tango scene that The Simpsons spoofed in an episode. However, I just enjoyed it so little that I ranked it almost at the bottom of this list.

Watching all 200 is quite the feat, although our taste in movies is incredibly different. I found Forrest Gump mostly tedious and silly, and Return Of The Jedi And Temple Of Doom the worst of their Franchise (including the prequels and Crystal Skull).
I find that my taste in movies differs from a lot of people, so I am not surprised that our tastes are different.
I might be the only person who actually did see all the movies on the list. I have been interested in the list for years so I tracked down the older films to watch them over the last few years. You can find The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse on Youtube. It is a very hard movie to get through unless you like silent movies.

Do I have to use the BOM list, or can I use my more accurate list which I maintain a thread for on this site?
The difference between the two lists is that BOM is missing 15 older movies, so the bottom 15 on BOM's list shouldnt be there. The movies that should be in the list instead are:
For Whom the Bell Tolls
This is the Army
Samson And Deliliah
song of the south
white christmas
from here to eternity
south pacific
20,000 Leagues under the Sea
Giant
Quo Vadis
bonnie and clyde
The longest Day
How the West was Won
Tom Jones
Fiddler on the Roof

Yeah, and its one of the best scores I have ever heard. You people with your Silvestri hate. I don't wanna listen to music with most of you.

The list has been updated to reflect the addition of Beauty and the Beast (2017).
Beverly Hills Cop II has been removed from the list.

Well CW I have seen it 18 times but no DCEU is rewatchable to me at all.
I tried rewatching BvS after I saw in the movie theater. I watched it on cable, months after I saw it in the movie theater. It was still horrible. The fight scene between Superman and Batman was a little bit better, but that was it. Everything else that was bad about the movie stayed bad.
That said, even a hot turd is better than Fant4stic, so BvS is atleast better than that.

I remember another poster who doubted Rth and I got into an argument defending him. As if Rth needed to be defended. It was during the Avengers: Age of Ultron OW. As it turns out, it was one of the very rare times Rth was wrong and this poster wouldn't shut up about it. I see the very same poster now being very complimentary towards Rth (which actually sickens me b/c I remember what this guy previously said about Rth), so I wouldn't be too hard on Gokira because he isn't the first to travel down this road. He'll come around.

Reading deadlines article makes me realize that future generations will have no clue just how huge TDK was in its run..... first film past 200 in less than 6 days now we have films past 200 in their OW.
Adjusting for inflation will help to remind people how huge TDK was.

Do you root for every movie to make as much as possible? I never know how some people are around here. I'm very clear about my rooting interests -- Star Wars above all. You can be assured if it was literally the greatest non-Star Wars movie of all time, I still won't be rooting for it to make any more than one penny less than the lowest grossing Star Wars film. It's not that I care that much, but the box office is like sports, obviously I'm rooting for my team. If you have NO team, that's totally fine, there are people who watch the NBA and just enjoy great basketball, they don't really have a team. I'm a Blazers fan because I live in Portland, so i'll always be biased and always want the Blazers to win. I don't hide that. I don't hide it with Star Wars, either, that's what interests me. Every movie is either a threat to Star Wars or it isn't, and if it isn't, it's not my problem -- to paraphrase Deckard.
Why would I root for Beauty and the Beast to make $500M? So it could pass Rogue One on the all time chart? Why the fuck would I do that?! That makes no sense. That would just be bizarre.
PS: There you have the longest reply you will EVER get to a one word (albeit drawn out) post. Bam.
I root for Disney. I have had a lot to cheer about the last few years.

Disney just needs to get Avatar and the DC franchise and it's game over for all other studios.
They actually tried to get Avatar when Fox was having cold feet about it. But when Fox saw Disney ready to step in, Fox decided to make Avatar after all.

There was a Wonder Woman trailer with my showing of BATB which is a genius move by WB. They'll gotten double the amount of eyeballs attaching it to that compared if they'd attached to Kong. Whether that translate into dollars remains to be seen.
I remember people saying that the studios don't choose what trailers play with what movies, except in rare cases. So it is more likely that the theaters decided to put the trailer in front of BATB.

No one cares that the movie won an oscar. It is the fact that some people have to compare it to Marvel. If someone could leave Marvel out of it then no one would respond. This isnt the type of oscar that people get jealous about or care about.

A Look at The Biggest Box Office Stories from 1972-present (THABOS: The History of Amazing Box Office Stories) | IT'S FINALLY COMPLETE!!!!!!!
in Box Office Discussion
Posted
You did a great job summing up most of the big blockbusters from 1972-1974. I think Young Frankenstein should also get a mention for 1974 as well. It was a very high grossing film. Pretty amazing that Mel Brooks' 2 highest domestic grossing films (adjusted for inflation) came from the same year.
