  1. This movie feels really "late". I remember my best friend in elementary school reading these fifteen years ago. I had completely forgotten about it's existence until these past few weeks. Also, some parents might be turned off by the potty humor, so it won't have the family friendly legs that most animated films seem to have.

Was listening to the radio when the song Edge of Seventeen came on. Realized that I associate the song more with School of Rock than Stevie Nicks. Got me thinking which songs have been associated with their use in movies, like "A thousand miles" in White Chicks and "Stuck in the middle with you" in Reservoir Dogs.

"Back In Black" in Iron Man, and "Angel of the Morning" in Deadpool.

Pirates 5 has a good Fandango want to see it number, a strong marketing effort from Disney (definitely not treating it like a throwaway), good test screening reactions, and early tracking beginning of the month was 90-100m 4 day (and Disney films usually match or exceed tracking)

while I think it will decrease from 4 I think it will get over 200m

900m I think is the goal for another installment to be greenlit

Is this Johnny Depp's final outing as Sparrow? The trailers seem to imply that, but I could see Depp holding on to this franchise due to it being his only marketable venture these days.

Jurassic Park just did a 14 year hiatus, Rocky took a 16 year than a 9 year one, Indiana Jones was an other very long one one, Beauty and the beast was 26 year, there is probably a short list but still a list of franchise that could take a 10-15 year's break and not be completely forgotten (Bond I would imagine too),

The main problem that Avatar has compared to those is that it's still only one film at this point. Also, a lot of the reason people liked it was the 3D novelty as well as the graphics, a sentiment many people I know sadly share. Unless the technology is significantly upped for these sequels, I don't see a huge turnout.

  5. With this insane bump in video sales, mostly due to the Trump effect, who else thinks it could have made a killing at the BO had it released closer to the election in August/September? Of course, a lot of people would see that it was pandering for the election effect, something Bay didn't want to associate with the film, but it still would've been interesting to see.

Yeah, Toy Story 3 bombed so hard with an 11-year delay.

    Apples to Oranges comparison.

Toy Story is a much higher regarded series with a decade of pent up demand that translated into it's box office haul. TS also debuted when 3d animation was in it's infancy. There was barely any competition in that regard.

HTTYD doesn't even have half of that demand. It's likability is up there with TS, but that didn't stop HTTYD2 from declining domestically. As I mentioned above, 3d animation is so commonplace, it's not special anymore. What worked for TS3 isn't going to work with HTTYD3. Sequels need to release more often these days for a series to stay relevant.

Andy... He's done it already. Titanic and now avatar... Never doubt the only guy in history who pulled off back to back all time world breakers and this man coincedentally also has the  biggest major BBC sequel jump.

Terminator to terminator II. Note:Terminator II and aliens are widely heralded as the greatest sequels of all-time.

If Avatar II is his new terminator II... Then there won't be a decrease domestically or os.  All time headlines for the domestic and.os are very very likely.

You do realize that T1's gross was really low, right?
