Still waiting for Powell to take up a proper dramatic role. Everything he’s been in so far has had a comedic edge (or at least he plays a charismatic, funny guy).
I know somebody who's done dramatic roles. And comedic roles. All kinds of roles, frankly...

How does no one realize that Twisters is actually the start of America getting Coren-sweaty…I'm very pro that. I've got the biggest crush on Superman, so if he can deliver the sexy tenderness I need...oh, baby~

This Powell and Prattburger stuff is boring. Can we talk about Timothee now?

Think it's a matter of time before they try a new Speed movie. Bring Sandra and Keanu back and don't set it on a cruise ship
Still surprised Disney hasn't greenlit this yet. Maybe Sandra is hard to get, but I would think you just need Keanu, and he seems like the kind of guy who would say yes to anything.

Passion of the Christ sequel next year is gonna be MASSIVE (could be bigger than Deadpool 3 tbh and take the DOM R-rated crown the first film will lose this year)
Please don't make me vomit in my mouth bb

Can't wait to revive this thread again a year from now. It's always fun to bring back this goodie back every year. Nostalgia!

Powell has movie star good looks and has proven he can be funny in Anyone But You. A sense of humor goes a long way in getting the audience to like you.
You know who's also funny?

I mean, Chalamet definitely gives off “coastal star” while Powell is more “middle America star”. Room for both to coexist.
I mean we're called coastal elites for a reason.

Of course we all know who's the bigger star. Gotta shift my GIFs to maximum overdrive so y'all can get the picture.

Oh god, you know that's gonna be the next nostalgic disaster reboot
I mean...is Airport really relevant any more? I don't even think it was relevant 20 years ago. It's basically like Love Story, where it was one of the biggest hits of all time when it came out, but I don't think anybody under the age of 50 even knows what it is.
Now an Airplane reboot? That I could see happen if that Naked Gun remake becomes a hit.

Re: Twisters' US appeal, it's doing what I predicted in being a smaller-scale TGM. Its got the Americana stuff that appeals to flyover and rural/conservative areas, has tons of action and spectacle for the A-List/Unlimited people who try to see everything in PLFs, feels fresh in tackling a concept and location you don't see very often in blockbusters, and it's a strong, well-made blockbuster with solid critical backing that makes it appealing to snobby coastal elites like me. It's really a perfect stor--uh...perfect...combination of elements.

To be fair Barbie and Mario are ridiculously big IPs. And, Oppenheimer is Nolan. I think a lot of people never really bought into it being a big change because of that.
Oh, I remember there was a lot of people saying stuff like this a year ago. Like somehow because Barbie and Mario were popular and stuff like Little Mermaid or Guardians of the Galaxy underperformed (though still made more money than most movies would ever dream of), that people were sick of these sequels and nostalgic toy commercials and wanted something fresh and new...and somehow these nostalgic toy commercials that only made their money because they are nostalgic toy commercials were proof of that? I even got pushback from people when I said the Barbie movie was a toy commercial. Which like...huh????????
