  1. I was in that camp before, but sales in Philly aren't anywhere near as strong as Sing 2, and that film did 170M. Plus with inflation and the potential recession likely locking out a ton of families, this has a major uphill battle.
  2. I mean yeah. Nobody's saying it would be a WOM sensation or whatever if the guy was straight. But like it's clear the gay stuff is hurting its appeal and we can't ignore that. Especially because, while obviously not important to the big picture, has really bad repercussions for the supposed progress we have had. And well, that's not good for me at least.
  3. Everything Everywhere, Elvis, Black Phone, and Smile. Though debatably the latter two could have made slighly more coin. So yeah, re-reading things, I was exaggerating. But this is definitely applicable to Lost City, Ticket to Paradise, Crawdads, and Woman King. Even with comedy woes happening in 2017, I can see a scenario where Lost City did 135M and Paradise going to the century mark. Ditto for the other two.
  4. How are they slow? Sales look strong across the board, albeit just scanning through things.
  5. Outside of one or two, these films are still largely making significantly less than they would have even five years ago. This is a problem that is important to recognize, because it shows, even if there are modest successes, that most audiences just aren't interested in movies that don't sell Happy Meals anymore.
