    This is a surprise?

He's by far a bigger name than all of them with the possible exception of Pfeiffer (and he's had more recent hits than her).

It seems pretty standard to me.

My Teigen gif is more annoyance than shock or surprise. I get why Depp's above, but I've got personal biases, both in my love for the three, and my...love for two.

The usual ComScore thing isn't up (either that, or they haven't updated, and it will be put up later) but the article states:

-175K social media conversations for Spider-Man: Homecoming last week, 1.87 million cumulative convos

-120K for The Last Jedi, 1.83 million total

    -100K for Wonder Woman

    -16.7K for Cars 3

    -16.4K for Dunkirk, 833K total

Honestly it's kinda disheartening when you see some people chanting for this film to flop.  I'd prefer a bit of optimism that it does well, especially given how ambitious and different the film is.  If it succeeds, then that'd be fantastic for not only this movie, but other potentially ambitious sci-fi projects people have in development.  Just food for thought.

Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales took to the sea last night with $5.5M at 7 PM in previews and now sets sail in 4,276 theaters tonight (that includes 400 Imax locales and 500+ PLF, too).

So where does that stand? Pirates‘ previews were ahead of the $4.2M preview grosses for The Jungle Book and Maleficent.

Stranger Tides reportedly brought in $4.7M in previews and X-Men: Apocalypse tallied $8.2M from previews last Memorial Day, before settling in with a $79.8M four-day gross in 4,153 theaters.

Yes it does. He was talking about how fox is ushering in a new era of ballsy comic book movies and I gave an example that shows that they can flounder. Moreover, this movie is a horror movie now..exactly what that was initially but turned into something else later in the post.

I don't see how it discredits my argument. There's of course always the chance a movie will suck even if it does take risks. That's art in general. But Fox has been two for three in terms of their more genre-bending CBMs. Not to mention, Fantastic Four had a notoriously disastrous production, with a lot of butting heads and a hard to work with director. Obviously, we won't know how good the film is and whether production ran smoothly or not until months later, but Boone has been able to pull off a well-received film before, and while he hasn't done anything horror-related, he seems like a trustworthy director.

Also, Fantastic Four was only given studio meddling because of negative fan feedback and a douchey director. Deadpool and Logan were made with little interference, at least to my knowledge, and production ran smoothly and obviously were big moneymakers. I see little reason why New Mutants will be any different unless Boone is a douche to work with or fans feel the horror elements are against what NM stands for.

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
