I guess I never understood it personally. It was a very good movie. Frozen 2 was much better imo.
Seems like there are three groups of people when it comes to Frozen:
- Loved/obsessed with the movie
- Thought it was good/okay, but not better than most Disney movies
- Hated it. Thought it was completely overrated.
Frozen has a very dedicated fanbase made up primarily of people in the first group. They may never Let It Go, and will happily go Into the Unknown again whenever Disney releases Frozen 3.

A potential Frozen 3 would be interesting. Most of the little girls that loved the first one so much would likely be teenagers (some even college age) by the time the third one came out and the 4-10 year olds when Frozen 3 arrives will have some other product that they are obsessed with by that time.
I'm surprised that people still get this wrong. The Frozen movie franchise does not only appeal to little girls. If that were the case, Frozen 2 would not have been so successful. The original Frozen was a documented 4 quadrant success, breaking the mold of typical Disney princess films. If anything, Frozen 2 appealed more to other demographics than the first movie, with a darker, more complex storyline.
I saw the movie again this past Thursday, and out of around 30 people in the theater, there was only one little girl. The rest were couples of all ages, and a few groups of high school and college age girls.
Whenever it happens, Frozen 3 will do just fine.

Wow! So even with a much less favorable ER, Frozen 2 still smashed Frozen 1's OW in US$!

NOPE. We already talked about "what ruined Star Wars" for weeks now. We don't need to continue on longer. If you really think it's necessary to talk about this (it isn't by the way), go to the Fanboy Wars thread. Anybody else who continues this will get repercussions.

Pretty impressive that Frozen has been the top trending movie on Disney+ since its' launch on November 12th, especially since so many people already owned the movie on video/blu-ray/dvd.

True but in that instance Show Yourself crushes it. I think almost every kid and quite a few adults just loved how ear wormy it was.
I think Show Yourself is on the same level and possibly even better than Let It Go (due to the interaction with Elsa's mother), but I have a pet peeve about people attributing the success of Frozen almost completely to Let It Go. Just as Frozen would not have been as popular without Let It Go, the song by itself, and even that sequence in the movie, wouldn't have been as impactful were it not for groundwork that was laid by the earlier songs in the Frozen.

I haven’t even seen it. But I’m still not the one chiming in saying it’s trash.
If you’re going to comment on the quality of a film and act like it’s a fact, make sure it’s a film you’ve actually seen.
When a film has 19% critic and 19% audience ratings on RT, F Cinemascore, 37 Metascore, and 4.3 on IMDB, I have no intention of actually paying to see it.

I wasn't all that impressed with Let It Go until I saw it in the context of the movie.
But after understanding Elsa's backstory and her physical and emotional isolation...
The entire Let It Go sequence in Frozen is incredibly powerful.

I wonder why the-numbers.com doesn't show Frozen 1's gross on the 2013 chart. It had a 43.3% increase by the way.
Looks like they're missing Frozen's daily numbers for December 23rd - 26th.

I thought it was strange that Frozen wasn't even on the list.
So I guess then they count the first (limited release preview?) Thursday, which means the 5th Thursday becomes...
QuoteDec 19, 2013 Thursday 3 $2,198,122 +22.8% +28.1% 3,716 $591 $172,392,010 When it really should be the following week. I kind of like the idea of Frozen and Frozen 2 being #1 and #2 on the list anyway.

Yes indeed it is! Plus no payment for 3 years. $150 for 3 years beat my Netflix deal of 65% off 3 years. Sadly I won't be able to even remotely replicate that. Paid off till June 2021.
I got the 3 year deal plus one year free with Verizon unlimited plan, so 4 years for $150 or just over $3/month.

Frozen 2 is kind of a Superhero musical. Elsa is gradually morphing into a superhero.

Ironic that Japan is at the bottom of the list. Frozen 2 is doing well there, but nothing like the incredible run that Frozen had in 2014.
Most of the countries where it's seen large percentage increases are relatively small markets with the exception of China and South Korea, and it'll likely need to make up over 100M to offset the lower number in Japan.

Tbh, I don't feel much the phenomenon generated from Frozen 2, the storm even weaker than Speechless from Aladdin.
Disney should have promoted Show Yourself more than Into the Unknown. That's the real showstopper, and had more emotional impact, similar to Let It Go.
I wasn't all that impressed with Let It Go, until I saw it in the context of the movie. That entire scene was amazing. The same can be said for the Show Yourself sequence in Frozen 2. I understand why Disney didn't immediately post the full video on YouTube since it would be a total spoiler, but now that the movie's been released in most countries for over a month, I wish they'd just post it already!
