That a good number for Strangers? I feel it may not stick around for very long.

Yep, I think it’s to move away from that terrible Netflix show a year or two ago. Could be wrong though lol
It's odd, when I saw it listed I thought it was a different movie, then I thought it was a typo until I saw the trailer before The Strangers and it said The Watched.

Anyone else notice that The Watchers is called The Watched over here? Strange title change.
-
Here for The Strangers, let's hope it's weekend is better than its reviews.
-
I would assume a family film wouldn’t do too hot in Thursday night previews.

Budgets from Deadline:
IF $110m
The Strangers: Chapter 1 $8.5m
Is that for Strangers Chapter 1 or all 3?

I am here for Tarots redemption.

Lions gate must have faith in this, screenings tonight and Saturday. I don’t know if there is a review embargo but I’m sure we should start seeing some reactions tonight.

The Strangers Numbers are looking more promising than the other horror movies so far this year.

True. However, piracy isn't as easy or comfortable as many people think. That's why many people still choose (to pay) streaming services over piracy.
In itself, the idea of many people waiting two weeks to pirate a HD copy doesn't seem so likely. People don't tend to wait for something they are interested.
I meant wait 2 weeks from the cinema release, it will be online the same time the movie hits streaming. I know a lot of people that pirate. You can buy boxes over here, hook it up to your tv and illegally stream anything.

To be fair, rental is still soomething you need to pay to see.
That means you will choose to wait 2 weeks to pay for a movie in a smaller screen over a big screen. That seems a weird choice unless you really dislike theaters.
Or wait 2 weeks an pirate a HD copy of the movie and pay nothing.

Maybe they are making too many films that feel far too safe. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with safe films, but it feels like everything plays it too safely. Why go see a movie in the cinema when I can stream a TV series that has more of an edge to it than most movies? Both Tarot and The Fall Guy just looked too safe to bother paying full price for; just wait until they hit streaming.

Tarot - only a 9x from previews for a female targeted PG13 horror isn’t good. WOM and reviews hit fast.
Will still see it this week sometime but expectations are on the floor lol
It's at like number 6 in the UK.

I’m going to say No. Under the last one.
It’s Lionsgate too.
That would be bad as they have 2 more movies to release.

Can The Strangers: Chapter One do better than all the other 2024 horror movies?

I'm surprised they even bought the rights to the book Horrorscope as the movie and book are totally different. I haven't seen Tarot but the book was about a group of high school students who are being picked off one by one by a killer using their hororscope in the school paper as ways to despatch them. The deaths are very gruesome and intense. The movie seems like it took nothing from the book, they even changed the title.

Yeah I guess this is the new normal
with non IP movies.
The Fall Guy is based on an old TV series and Tarot is based on a book.
-
That doesn't look good for Tarot.

Looks like there is a screening for this on Wednesday.
