    BOI (boxofficeindia.com) says the following:

    Link

Only problem is, I have no idea where their info has ever come from.  I've followed the site for ~11.5 years now for Indian BO (mostly they focus on Hindi/Bollywood market) and I can't recall any legit source verification for any of their data (I think they've claimed that they get numbers from distributors but again, only a claim).

Unfortunately, they're still the best source for India's BO - only other figures we get come from a few trade journalists and the studios themselves.

I'm pretty sure they're just talking about revenue-sharing in China in general where the foreign distributor gets 25% of box office compared to more in other countries i.e Australia. I doubt that website (or any Indian film site for that matter) has the specific business deal related to Dangal's release.

And that why I have no respect for Chinese people. PR had more plot then TF and they gave the Smurfs an 8.6.

Dude, after all your whining and shit in the presales forum, you react by putting down an entire country? Seems petty and playing into exactly what everyone thought of you from the beginning: you're nothing but a sensitive fanboy.

    Gotta love fudge.

Well Olive side tye ceiling end was 200m. I said that was the floor. Again we meet in the middle

These revised numbers are from the Chinese side, not Universal.

China would fudge to hit 100M or billion thresholds in RMB, they don't give a crap about arbitrary USD round numbers.

I would like to ask, is it a meaningful act to exclude services fee charges as the authority recognise the official indicator with included figure?

and, is it china only included the services fee into their gross?? if so, this is really disturbing

I don't know of any other market which includes ticketing surcharges in its official grosses, and even if they did, the amount would pale in comparison to China where 80% of tickets are bought online now. Indeed it is rather alarming as a way to pad stats, yet local media have caught on and usually report both 综合 (including) and 分账 (not including) grosses. Unsurprisingly, Hollywood studios and western trades, excluding China Film Insider, report the 综合 grosses since it makes the numbers look larger for their films.

It made $180 million OW back in 2015, so I thought it would do a lot more than $200 million. Didn't it have higher presales? I never said it did badly, it's done amazing, but not as much as everyone was expecting.

Not sure where you got that $180M number from. F7 opened on a Sunday so maybe that's the total from Monday through the following Sunday? $195M in 3 days for F8 is definitely not an underperformance.

  8. Btw, Maoyan's iPhone app -- which updates numbers in realtime as opposed to every 30 mins on the web -- has an option to show grosses either before or after ticket surcharges. Pretty spiffy app. Copy and paste 猫眼专业版 into App Store and download. Then look for "分账 (before surcharges)->综合 (after)" toggle in upper right corner.
