    That's China number is just speculation..... BTW DM2 did pretty well in China($53m), so it's possible.

     

    But some markets have been really poor for the franchise, India for example, where DM2 didn't even do $1m.

     

    BTW here is the list of major markets for DM2 in which Minions has opened and how much it is expected to do.....

     

    Market - DM2 - Minions

     

    UK - 72M - 65M

    Australia - 33M - 25M

    Brazil - 36M - 30M

    France - 41M - 50M

    Germany - 38M - 50M

    Mexico - 48M - 50M

    Russia - 35M - 45M

     

    Total - 303M - 315M

     

    So in the Top 7 markets, it barely increased from DM2. Even with very good holds from here, it will finish with around 330M in these markets. In the remaining markets(excluding China) DM2 did 245M. Even if Minions increases 50% in these markets, it will still be able to do only 700M excluding China.

    Australia will be at least 33 million - it's already at 24 million

    Watched this movie and its hilarious and stunning, but it lacks depth.

    Anyway, since movie is a spin-off, which would hit $1b OS, DM3 will repeat that trend and will gross over $1.5b and surpasses Avengers.

    Do you think the movie can surpras 700 overseas? 

    I was thinking maybe 300-350 domestic and 700 overseas (with China)

    Not sure if it can go above - would love it though!

    Considering its breaking records in so many markets and definitely looks to have leggier run than AOU, it wont be that surprising. Of course Asia would be way weaker though China looks primed for 1B Yuan. But it will destroy AOU in europe and will do much better even in Latin America. So it does have a chance to beat AOU.

    are we sure MInions is getting a China release??

    Awesome second Thursday for The Minions!! 236319 admissions (102% up from its OD)!!! It passed $10m yesterday!!! Local box office experts were saying, after the huge success Fast & Furious 7 had here, that The Minions was the only movie that could take 2015´s crown from Toretto and Co. Now I see that really could happen!!! 

     

    Great OD for Terminator Genisys 77293 admissions (on par with AoU)

     

    Inside Out is still selling a lot 68898 admissons (+176% from last Thursday) 

     

    The best thing is that holidays didn't start in the most populated province of the country yet, neither in their capital city: Buenos Aires. This July should be HUUUUGE!!! ;)

    KFP2 did OS 410+90 in China. KFP3 needs another 370 to beat Frozen OS. Where it can get these dollars? All in China?

    Finding Dory and TS4: Frozen has outpaced TS3 thanks to 330 in Japan and SK: Will be hard for both movies to reach this level in these countries. Maybe China can help, but i think no.

    Minions gets great OWs but is falling like a stone in many small markets and in UK and Australia is down from DM2 at the same point. The competition with IO hurt it more than expected and WOM it isn't so strong. However it should reach 1B in any case thanks to China and DOM (350+700 is the best case scenario).

    I think that the only has a chance is DM3 (the only risk is that the Minions  will get a overexposition)

    Minions held better than DM2 in the UK. Its second weekend drop was lower than DM2. Also in Australia, the movie is actually up from its previous weekend and not down. Also in Brazil.
